Looking for a good, light and small detailing vac. thats inexpensive!

It sucks trying to use a home upright and hose attachment to try and vacum out the car... specially when non of the attachments work very well (too big) and the vac sucks worth a crap.

Those stupid vacs at car washes are just as bad if not worse

I want a small, lightweight unit that will be able to pull all the fine dust, dirt and doghair out of my carpet/mats and also be able to reach under and inbetween seats and dash etc.

Any suggestions??

Check out your local Home Depot for the Shop Vac attachments. You might find one that will fit your current vac and do the job you want for $5.

please read the post!!

My current vacum is a household upright and it is extremely weak... It wont even suck up a feather that is floating through the air.... let alone anything off or out of carpet

Just buying attachments for it wont work because the vacum itself is messed up...

hence i'd like a dedicated system for the car

There are small vacs at the home improvement stores and hardware stores. But you get what you pay for. The strong high powered vacs are huge and clunky and I don't think the smaller ones have enough suction, but I suppose they are adequate.

You could always buy a new home one with attachments and kill two birds with one stone. A good one will set you back $200 or so.

I have this one from Sears and love it. It's size and shape make it great for pulling around and inbetween the cars. It will suck the paint off of 'em, too! It comes with a full assortment of attachments. Cost around $150 if I remember right.

That's cool, Brad...

I have a Craftsman that is very similar and I really like it. It is small, lightweight and does a good job for my needs. At the time that I bought it, I also picked up the micro-attachments for it and they are great for reaching very tight places. The micro-attachments were only another $10.00, and they are handy.

JeffBruce - I don't believe this is the exact same vacuum... can anyone confirm this? The CMA one looks bigger, so I'm assuming it's more powerful.

I hope it's the same because if so, I'll buy it in a minute.

Brad, It's not that much!

Sears has them now for only $70.

See link:
Brad's Sears Vacuum

How do I swing this after spending $250 on "stuff" this month already...

Followup on Restoration HW's vac... I called them and it is definately NOT the same as CMA's vac. It's 1.17HP peak... CMA's is 4HP. Totally different model. Damn... I would have loved CMA's vac for $99.

Oh well... the April sale starts next week!
