worlds greatest detailing event?

i was just wondering, whats the greatest or most prestigeous detailing event in the world? is there such a thing? only detailing event i know of is that concours event only because of the names of certain detailing products. actually from reading more about it its more of a classic car show than a detailing show. anyone ever competed in some serious detialing event?

NG Luder, there are several board members who have competed successfully in concours events. SteveMoriarty & BradB. come to mind. Brad's cars have won numerous numerous Jaguar Concours, the most recent I believe was the 2001 Jaguar Concours in St. Louis.

Luder, the word 'concours' just refers to an event showcasing automobiles and stuff. The detail quality in many of the upper-level concours events is secondary to stuff like authenticity, restoration quality, paint job, etc.

Having a perfect detail job is almost a given in events like the one at Pebble Beach. The real judging comes from how authentic everything is. As an example, any replacement part added to your vehicle that isn't the same substance and style as the original will pretty much eliminate you from the running. The use of modern fabrics or materials are spotted instantly.

Meguiars sponsors a concours in Palo Verde every year. I beleive this year it is in late summer but am not sure. Everything you see is fantastic. Pebble Beach concours is in August. Absoluelty beautiful stuff. A lot of the stuff never sees the light of day excpet for the shows. Have a guy I know that has a AC Cobra replica that has put 9 miles on the car in the 4 yrs he has had it. I put anywhere from 250 to 500 miles a week on KERMIT. I was actually voted down on points one time because one of the judges found out I ACTAULLY DRIVE THE CAR. He was astounded I would actually do that to my car. We all had a real laugh at this later.
Was at a concours last year where one of the judges was actaully measuring the space between KERMITS rivets in the aluminum in the my trunk & engine bay.. He wanted to make sure they were uniform. I really don't like doing shows like that. I really enjoy going to local "HOT DOG STAND" cruises and shows. Its fun to win a trophy but i have more fun by far just talking to my friends/fellow gearheads. Giving a person his first ride in a Cobra, opening it up on the freeway, seeing the smile an understaker wouldn't be able to remove, is more fun to me than any trophy I have ever won.
