Unhappy Whats the best way to remove wax residue from poor valet

Hi

New to the forum, just got my car mostly resprayed to repair car park damage and the results of some nice person gouging a furrow down one side of my car.

The garage did a great job but whoever valeted the car after the respray did an apalling job of waxing it. I have wax residue and smears across some body panels and I was wondering what the best way of removing these would be?

Or, can I just go ahead and re-polish the car with my usual wax (Auto Glym Ultra Deep Shine)?

Thanks for any info.

GD

Personally, I'd take it back to the garage and have a chat with the boss. I'd ask for his expert suggestions for the wax and smear removal. That way, he will see the work done by his valet and perhaps begin a course of remediation for the valet.
This process will get you the information needed to protect your new paint properly. For example, only gentle washes for the first month or so until the paint cures properly.

Thanks John,

It does have to go back anyway so I'll raise this with the body shop manager whilst there.

If the car has been baked off properly do I still need to wait for it to cure?

New paint requires 30 days for out gassing, do not use wax or sealants, you can use a pure polish or compound for paint correction nothing else for 30 days.

While I'm not a paint expert by any means, I've had quite a few paint jobs over the years. Some have been baked, some not baked, some half baked, in fact, my usual state is the latter.
The shops have always told me the same thing - don't do anything major apart from gentle washing for a month. Mopar made reference to the 30 days also. I've always erred on the side of caution and waited the month then done the typical autopia regimen from that point onward.

Most new cars have that time built in with shipping time, dealer time, etc. so it's not critical for a new purchase but you knew that.

Add to this thread after you've taken it back to the garage and report the advice of the boss, I'd be curious about his thoughts.
