Polishing or paint cleaner fo perfect surface to satisfy Felix Unger

OK, here is the scenario:

I have a 1 year old Toyota Avalon with lunar mist metallic (silver grey) paint. Due to some novice mistakes in claying last year, etc., it has some minor swirl, overall light scratches. While these are not deep, they are all over the car and it bugs me. It is the stuff you see on every car, except to Felix Unger (obsessive and gotta be perfect - ME) it is something that would be nice to get rid of. It looks so good when all shined up, but those micro-swirls - yechh!!!

Have any of you used either a very mild polish or paint cleaner that could get this swirling out without harming clear coat? I don't want to go the "glaze, cover up" route. If I do it, it is going to be to get it out.

The average human would probably say I am nuts for even considering this, but somehow I think many on this forum will understand. Is it possible to eliminate these things and keep them away or are they the inevitable result of washing and drying, etc?

Some of you probably do a major detailing of your own vehicle a couple of times/year that includes some polishing/cleaning ritual that is very mild and meant for very MINOR surface imperfections. So what do you do? What products, application method (PC, hand), etc? How long should it take?

start with the least abrasive....

SMR comes to mind... Use the Pc and do a search as there are many threads on this with techniques tips.
