Owning a light/neutral color vehicle is unfulfilling

In the past I usually purchased darker colored vehicles, e.g. black, bright red, etc...

Presently I have a Gold (Arizona Beige) vehicle. This weekend I polished, applied a sealant, and waxed my truck. I couldn't be happier with the gloss I achieved, but in direct sunlight it gets "washed out". Of course there are pros and cons to every color and this color hides dirt well.

But, it's safe to say for my next vehicle I'm going back to a darker/brighter color.

I understand. I, to, went from a black car to a dark gray in the same model.

When both were at their best, the black looked better. However, the other 90% of the time, the gray is better, and that's meaningful if the vehicle is a daily driver.

Also, micromarring does not show as much on the gray car. With the black, forget it.

I miss my black car, but the gray looks better more often. It's all a question of how much and in what conditions you drive your vehicle, and how much time you have to lavish on it.

The gray is fine now, but once I retire (a few years, hopefully), I could go back to black.

It sounds like you are able to be hardcore about your ride, so it looks like a black vehicle is in your future. In the meanitme, you can make Arizona Beige look pretty doggone good.

I know exactly what you mean. In the shade, this ML is the epitome of wetness and gloss...but look at it in the full sun....

However...my black 626 will be my last black car. I don't have the time to keep it perfect.

Unless it is something with Ceramiclear or similar, I doubt I will ever go through the hassle of a black car. I really like silver (sorta depends on the shade and amount/type of metallic), and I can really get it to pop using the right products. Don't think I will ever own a gold car, though. For me, a good compromise between pop and depth would probably be something like Diamond Graphite on an Infiniti, absolutely love that color.

I agree that black is amazing when in perfect condition...and the emphasis is on "PERFECT". Any other time, it just looks dirty. I think that's a big consideration for the obsessive folks amongst us here. It's because of that that I will never own a black car again. I had a black Civic and it looked clean for about a day.

I currently own a dark green Accord. When it's freshly washed, it looks good. The problem is the green is not all that exciting. I also own a silver metallic pearl Odyssey. It's not a traditional silver; more a champagne. It is sweeeeet!!!! I just put two coats of EX-P on it for the winter and it looks amazing. The nice thing is that it still looked good after 2 weeks of rain and no car wash. I agree that traditional silver and that gold (we see so much of it now) do not really sparkle well.

I think if you want a color with pop but not the hassle of black, go for a nice eye-catching red or blue. The Lexus IS 350 has a nice red. The Mazda 6 has an amazing blue. Those are my next primary choice in colors.

Actually white would be first choice for light colors, especially the bright shade of white.

Otherwise, I'd go with blue or dark gray. I don't believe I'd go back to black, but it may depend on the specific vehicle.

I intentionally didn't list specific products because I didn't want to get into a debate of product selection. I've tried many different product combos and like I originally stated, I couldn't be more satisfied with the gloss I've achieved.

I think Scottwax hit the nail on the head with that example.

I have a white Mustang, good shape and all, and has a decent gloss to it. But I'm selling, and I really want a black car next.

im in the mix here -

silver nissan frontier, champagne honda accord and chevy silverado
