Join Date: Oct 2006 Posts: 14 | Products for Red 360 Ferrari? Save me from buying $1100 Zymol Vintage I was told by a very knowledgeable and trustworthy source that the soft PPG paint on Ferrari's required a different level of care. That the polishes, cleaners, glazes, waxes, etc that I had previously used on my Porsches were not optimal for the Ferrari's paint.
What do you guys think, which products would you suggest for the various detailing steps on a Red/Black 360 Ferrari Spider?
Thanks.

Join Date: Jun 2006 Posts: 860 | I dont buy that whole thing saying it needs special care. The people who own those cars want to think the rides need speical care. I would say use whatever you use on any other car, you may get more clients if you convice them your doing somthing special.
i like zymol, ihavent speend 1100 yet but there good produucts in my books, perhaps trying somthing like creme or carbon. its about the price of sov. but i like it better, (and yes ive tried both)
But back to the topic at hand, no there is no special requiments just becsue its mroe expenive. (assming that you do propper work that wouldnt gurt another car, if you use steel wool, which im assumin your not, then ya it does but normaly no)

I would just hang around here and observe some of the combinations that other members have had success with, and experiment. Select a good polish team, and then compare several lsp's and determine which combination works well for you ....(then try a zymol...had to sneek that one in lol!)!

Thanks! After working on the Ferrari's and talking with other owners and a Ferrari Technician... Ferrari Paint is definetly different from other paint. It is VERY SOFT and AND VERY THIN! If anyting do mulitple passes with a light polish such as FPII. The F430 I did unfortunately was bad enough to where FPII didnt have enough cut to get rid of the buffer induced swirls it had. I wish I didnt had to resort to using anything more aggresive than FPII but in that certain case I did
The Swissol Scuderia is marketed/made for Ferrari paint ad goes for 120 usd roughly. I used it on the 89 Single stage paint 328 and LOVED it. I like it more than Pinnacle Souveran. Here is the link for swissol... http://www.swissol.com/E/US/Produkte_Lack3.htm

Join Date: Oct 2006 Posts: 14 | Thank you Chris. I was just getting into all the threads returned from my forum searches, and had gone through yours.
At $1800, I am over the Vintage, but let's say you had $400 to spend on a wax, what would you choose? The Zymol Ital, the Swissol Scuderia, or something else (even less expensive), one of the other Zymols? I think I have my polishing and prep stages down now. I was just afraid using my Menzerna was going to do something terrible to the paint. So no glazes used like the 3M Imperial Hand Glaze or Red Moose?

If that's the case, then I'd try either of the EG's like Concours, Ital, or Glasur..a high content carnauba at a decent price...as far as the EGZymols are concerned. For curiosity, go head to head with Souveran and the CG 5050 just to get an idea of which lsp has the most intensity. Remember, no pairing of any of the lsps. Each one has to perform without the help of an underlying lsp or sealant.
This should be fun!
