I need help with polish and wax system for my new car. (kinda long...sorry)

Hi All,

I am not new to the car detailing thing (certainly no expert) and am fanatical about the finish (like everyone else here). I just picked up my new 2001 Z06 in millenium yellow. The paint is in pretty good shape considering it is a new car but it is also almost a year old which means some fool has already had his or her hand in washing it improperly etc.

I have used Zaino on my previous cars with good results but there has to be a better system out there. It seems zaino has a cult like following so I am hopeful it is not the case here. Please don't misinterpret my statement I am just itching to try something different. If I should stick with the Z please let me know.

I have a few minor very light scratches and some "swirls" for lack of a better term. My intention was to clay the surface, use a polish with my Porter cable to remove the surface imperfections and then wax. My question really stems around which polish. I don't want something very abrasive because I truly beleive it will be overkill. I have used Griots mildest machine polish before with good results on a different car but I'd like some opinions or suggestions as there may be something better. I am also reading super things about the Pinnacle Soverign and would like to try that as well. WOuld their polish work well with my PC?

Any opinions, comments or suggestions welcome. If you have any other products you'd like to recommend I'm all ears.

Thanks for the time.

Joe

Angry What??

WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU WANT TO SWITCH AWAY FROM ZAINO? ARE YOU NUTS?!?

Just kidding .

OK, I just had to say that. I'm a PC newbie so I will let the knowledgeable ones answer that question.

Here's my take though:
Problem is if you have light scratches a swirl remover might not even be enough. If you only have ever-so light swirls and a couple of light scratches, polish out the scratches by hand with whatever you prefer and after you clay go for it with the PC and Pinnacle PCL or P21S PCL. Both are highly recommended. PCL = Paint Cleansing Lotion .

Welcome to the best detailing forum around!
