about to detail friends car with zaino...

wow havent posted in a while...

anyways, i just had a quick question regarding zaino. im about to detail my friends car. she drives a black honda accord sedan. i only have 2 days and 1 nights to detail it before i return the car. my plan is to do a basic detail with zaino, nothing too autopian since she just wants it to look "shinny".

so yea, i plan to do the basic clay bar, dawn wash, maybe 3m SMR if i have time and start using zaino with my zfx. ive been reading a bit and leanred that its a good idea to do multiple layers of z5 right from the start before z2. is this actually beneficial? i never knew of this and when i first zainoed my own car (when zfx wasnt out) i z1, z2,z5,z2,z5,z5,z2,z2 in a corse of a few weeks. as u can see i switched back and forthe repeatedly instead of using z5 for my first few layers.

so yea, just wanted to clear this up and see if i should try doing multiple z5s before a z2 on my friends never-detailed car. also one more question, if i do 3 coats of zaino with zfx one day and finish around 8pm, can i try adding 1 layer of z2 the next day around 1:00pm? that means i would not have waited the recommended 24 hrs... but since its not my car and i just want to finish with a fresh layer of z2 before i return it, would i caus any major streaking or breaking down of the most curent layer of Z when i just try adding a layer of z2 without wating full 24hrs?

If you have black car, I think it is beneficial to do multiple Z5 to hide all the swirls within Z5's capability before jumping to Z2; however, Z5 & Z2 are interchangeable (you can Z5 after Z2 and not necessary PRIOR to Z2), so your switching back & forth of z1, z2,z5,z2,z5,z5,z2,z2 sounds just fine to me and have nothing to worry about. Basically, once you are happy with the way the paint looks and how the swirls are hidden, you can just use Z2 and jump back to Z5 whenever you start to notice swirls again. Or you can just use Z5 exclusively like a lot of people do.

After ZFX X 3, you really should wait 24 hours before applying more coats for proper bonding; however, I've heard someone did 6 coats all in 1 day and he didn't seem to have problem. I do not have first hand experience with this though.

For your friend's Black accord, I would definitely start out with as much Z5 as possible.

To be honest, I would just do the Z5........ 3 coats of it on the first day with the ZFX, and 3 more on the 2nd day with ZFX.

That should look great

I put 3 coats of ZFX/Z5 on last week. Did a Z7 wash this morning and then did 2 coats of ZFX/Z5. I then just topped it with Z2 without the ZFX because I don't mind waiting a couple of hours now!!!! I will wait till tomorrow and then Z6 as my final step...

So far the car looks awesome. Very easy to do. It doesn't have as much of the plastic look on the Steel Gray bimmer as it did on the Silver Accord. Very pleasing shine. Looks like new clearcoat.

ok but how about my question regarding the waiting time? should i still add a final layer of z2 without waiting 24 hrs? is there a good chance i might ruin the most recent coat? remember i only have 2 days and one night so i wont be able to do 3 coats one day and 3 coats next day since ill most likley finish at night on the first day.

as for pics, ill try my best to take some. im ordering my digi cam tonight so hopefully ill be able to get it deleivered to me before i do the detail. if not, ill try to find some film but its going to cost alot more to develope and have it put online.
