the best product to remove swirl mark?

I have a BMW Carbon Black M3. It has swirl mark all over. I use AmeriLustre Kit to keep my car clean, it has some kind of paint sealant treatment when I bought the car which is recomanded by my dealer and I cant use wax.

Just want to know what is the different between wax and paint sealant?

skill and product required for the swirl marks?

thanks

Welcome to the forum!

It depends on how bad the Swirls are.

It is better to start with the least abrasive product and then inspect. And move to harsher as required or try again.

Most will suggest starting with 3M swirl mark remover or equal.

Wax is made from Carnuba which does not last very long in the elements.

Sealants are made from polymers and last over 4 months and will protect your paint from UV damage unlike wax.

Check out the e-book. It defines these terms and many others you may be interested in.

Kenji,

The difference between "wax" and a "sealant" is that a sealant is 100% synthetic, whereas a wax typically contains one or more natural waxes (i.e., Carnauba, bees wax, etc.). Most sealants contain chemical compounds based on polymer (long molecule strands) technology, making them very durable. Some waxes may actually be a blend of wax and polymers.

There are a couple of things to consider when deciding on a wax vs. sealant:

1. Durability -- Sealants outlast waxes 3:1 (minimum)
2. Shine -- Most sealants have more gloss
3. Depth -- Carnauba waxes create a deeper looking finish
4. Clarity -- Sealants are better at the low end, waxes at top end
5. Ease of application -- Depends on product
6. Cost -- A quality wax can be very expensive; sealants modest
7. Protection -- No contest, sealants win

For swirls, my favorite product is 3M Perfect-It for Dark Colors. Hands down the best swirl remover.

I'll be a lot of work to remove swirl marks by hand. I would get a buffer to work them out. Get a rotary buffer if you want to take the time to learn how to use it or a PC if you just wanna jump right in with good results.

Meguiars #9 would be my choice of polish.
