Random Orbital Speeds?

The PC has a speed of between 2500 to 6000 OPM. As I cannot get the UK retailer to give me a real price of a PC, I am forced to look elsewhere.

What I have found is a range of random orbital buffers which have OPM speeds of between 6000 and 14000. Is this speed to high, is it dangerous to the paint. These units are claimed to be designed for automotive use by bodyshops, does this sound right.

6000 is too fast for general use on paint. Ask for models made by Hitachi and Ryobi, they have a greater range on speed. Hitachi FSV 13Y Random Orbit Dual Action sander or a Ryobi CROS125 (not variable but can still do the job). There is a variable speed Ryobi RS280. Get the RS280 if it is available, if not then try the Hitachi.
