Quick question on next step after Swirl Reducer

Last night, I Dawn washed then I clayed the Montero. I noticed very light swirls, but only noticeable at certain angles. I currently have a bottle of Meguiar's Clear Coat Prep and Swirl Reducer . I plan on using that Meguiar's Swirl Reducer tonight as I need to use that bottle up and I have really run out of extra detailing supply cash. What steps do I take next before I apply Klasse AIO and SG? Should I Dawn wash again, Gold Class wash, or go straight to Klasse AIO?

1. Dawn wash (done)
2. Mother's Clay (done)
3. Meguiar's Clear Coat Prep and Swirl Reducer
4. Dawn wash? Gold Class wash? or straight to AIO?

I just don't want any bonding issues when I apply Klasse after the Meguiar's Swirl Reducer.

After your done with the swirl mark remover. Use the All In One, despite what some people may say, it makes a noticable difference in surface slickness and it gives it a nice shine, one layer is good, two is perfect. From there go straight to the Glaze.

Definitely use the AIO after the swirl conditioner and a dawn wash.

Ryan, thanks for the suggestion, but my question is: Should I Dawn wash, Gold Class wash, or go straight to AIO after the Swirl Reducer? No doubt, I'm going to use AIO, I just need to know what step (if any) in between. If you have other input, that would be great. Thanks again.

You can go straight to the AIO after the Swirl Remover. The problem with a wash after the swirl remover (esp. meguiar's) is that you run the risk of making the swirls visible again. Many of the swirl removers only fill in or reduce the intensity of the swirl marks. With Meguiar's, you might need to do 2 applications.

Thanks PrinzII. I did plan on doing at least 2 applications of the Meguiar's Swirl Reducer. I was just concerned if it would affect the proper bonding of the AIO with SG. Hopefully AIO will not remove the spots that the Swirl Reducer filled in.

I called Meguiars on this one and they flatly said that the #9 will only fill and/or chemically strip the swirls. Cough BullSH! If your going to remove swirls use a SMR with abrasives, at least enough to properly remove swirls. Polish is all you need since your swirls are just minor. Then dawn thouroughly and use 2 X AIO. Any swirls will be gone once you have use 3 coats of SG.
Be sure they ARE swirls/haze and not the factory swirls. Are they from a buffer wheel? If they are in the paint from the factory, which is usually the case, you arent going to remove them.
So fix the swirls first then dawn to clean the residue. Cause if yo dont dawn the Klasse may have some problems staying on the paint. If you decide to go straight to AIO after a # 9 be sureto use at least 2 coats AIO and rotate your pads to use clean ones every half or third of the vehicle.
This is what Ive always done. i hear that sealers WILL stick over fillers but I dont believe it.

I just spoke to a Meguiar's rep and he recommended I use my leftover bottle of Body Scrub Paint Cleaner since it does not have any "polishing oils", whereas the Swirl Reducer does. He said it will remove swirls, not fill them in. I was quite surprised by that statement. Before the conversation ended, I told him that I'm going to use Klasse and he said he never heard of it. He seemed very loyal to their products.

I'm confused

So its ok not to wash after using Mcguiars SMR before Klasse AIO?? I was always led to believe that Mcguiars SMR had oils that would prevent the Klasse from bonding properly.

The reason I ask is that I plan on using Mcguiars with a PC as opposed to 3M SMR since I hear its less abrasive.

I then plan to follow with Klasse AIO and SG..

Klasse AIO is a heck of a cleaner and will eat up any residue left behind from the Meguiar's polish. I'd wash anyways, but I'm kind of paranoid.

You have to know what type of swirls you have and then use the proper abrasive to clean it. A machine and some abrasive is the right way to remove swirls. THe pressure and amount of time used with the machine is key to removing properly.
Use dawn if your really concerned.
