fine scratch removal product and procedure question----

I am new to detailing and have read enough where I'm starting to get an idea of procedure. I have a silver sienna and my primary goal is protection (I live in Michigan). What I'd like to do is try claying, the KAIO and a sealant such as poorboys. Where does the fine scratch removal process come in? before or after the AIO? Does the poorboys do that and if not what are some favorites that do?

Will the sealant/glaze offer enough protection or do I need to take it a step further? Tell me if this procedure is on target:

wash
clay
wash
scratch removal (ie, polish????)
aio
seal (poorboys?)

lastly, I have some products that I bought before I started reading this forum. Megs ColorX, NuFinish polish, and turtlewax car soap, TW bug/tar remover, Megs vinyl rubber protectant, and armor all leather cleaner. Are any of these bad products that I should throw out??? I suspect the NuFinish probably needs to go in the trash.

Your process/sequence looks good to me.
I wouldn't personally throw out any of your OTC products. Give them a try and see if you like them. For example, ColorX is pretty good.

would the colorx process go before the aio then? would it help the scratches? (it is a brand new car but in certain lights i can see very fine scratches that I suspect are pretty superficial)

ColorX is a polish/cleaner/wax. AIO is a polish/cleaner/sealant. I would use one or the other, not both. You could top either with a pure wax if you wanted. ColorX claims to remove fine scratches but I think it is too mild to remove any significant swirls/scratches.

To remove any significant swirls or scratches, you would need a something with abbrasives prior to ColorX or AIO (e.g. Poorboys SSR line, Megs #83, #80, etc.)

Colorx is an "all in one" product. It will remove some minor swirls, polish and leave some wax protection. You probably wouldn't use both ColorX and Klasse AIO in the same detail.

since I plan on hand application would the megs be better for me (since I read that poorboys is suggested w/ a PC)??? I am also interested in Sonus products- would the sfx-1 be the equivalent to say the megs #80 or the PB level 1?


Is it safe to assume if I buy all MF towels/pads/applicators I will be fine or do I need to use different kinds of applicators (like the sonus has one w/ a fine side and a coarse side)?
