Check out this light

I was rummaging gthrough Home Depot when I came upon this light. It is a tubular style light that encases 2 42 watt flourescent lights, equal to 300 watts of incadescent lights.

It gives off a 360 degree powerful light source with very low heat, at about 1 amp.

It has an automatic on/off switch. The tube stores inside of an inner sleeve and when you pull up on the top portion the light beams on automatically....did I mention it was BRIGHT??

I have two 500 watt halogens and they produce great light but they also produce ALOT OF HEAT! This light is super cool and while kinda heavy it's easier to carry than my two 500 watt lamps which are also on a stand. This light folds up very compact. I hope it illuminates a car nicely.

This is a pic of the light while on.

This is a pic of the how much light it puts out. I was able to open up the case and place a piece of tinfoil inside so it now gives me a nice 180 degree area of light.

It cost $60.00 at Home Depot. Great for mobile detailers

Anthony

I saw that the other day when I bought a "Husky" twin light set up.
That looks really neat.

Nice. I might have to get one, as I have a tripod setup with two 1000 watt halogens I got from Home Depot, but one of the lights keeps burning out bulbs...and I planning on picking up an extra light for when Sullybob comes to apprentice for a day with me on the 3rd. Anthony, are you going to get a chance to put this light into real action in the next couple days?

Thanks!

I just crawled all over the HD site and didn't find anything. Guess I'll have to get my tail into a store ASAP.

I think I saw that light when I was trolling through HD the other day. I'm doing more autobody and paint work now since the weather is warmer and running both my Halogen setup's does put out more heat than I would like.

Might check into this.

It will reveal alot of swirls and marring but for me here in South Texas they just produce way too much heat.....I mean it's already 98 degrees with 100% humidity without that dang light on!!

Hopefully this light I just bought will also reveal marring/swirls plus add little to no heat.

I hope to get to use it today but as of right now it looks like we have rain moving our way on the local radar

Concours detail huh? I've only done a couple, but as fun as it was (and it's nice to be able to say you can do it), I find myself shying away from these complete wetsand and buff jobs...because damn they are A LOT of work. I suppose it depends on a lot of factors, but they each chewed up a couple full days...and of course there is always a risk of something going wrong - I won't do it again unless I get $1,500 - $2000 (I under bid the two I've done). Good luck.
