Question Bring paint to a 'liquid state'?

I caught this on another discussion forum.

Someone was looking for a professional detailing job, this guy recommended a "professional job" as he describes below:

Quote:
What is done is they don't use abrasives to remove the clear, like they do while wet sanding. They use a buffing pad and physically Heat up the paint so that the paint becomes almost a liquid state. Then they move it around, hence why I said they are professional. They will rid you of your stone chips, scratches even key'd jobs. The cost is high because it's done right and takes a full day or depending on the car/detail/amount of defects on the car. Now since they heat up the paint to liquid form the clear is smooth and scratch free taking all swirls out of the paint.

Too much glue sniffing?

Too much glue sniffing.

Polishing is all about removing paint. The trick is removing just enough.
I've yet to see any polishing remove stone chips. Not to mention, won't the base coat and top coat get mixed up in their liquid states? Haha ... thanks for that bit of comedy.

I've developed a system of repairing scratches by heating the paint to a lquid state with a propane torch
