Carbon Fiber Question

I have a carbon fiber hood on my 2004 grand prix. The parts that aren't carbon fiber and are just black gel coat are oxidized. Has anyone had any experience with this? What would be the best way to treat it? Is gel coat different than say a single stage paint? I'm assuming it would be like a boat, but i'm not sure.

Any help would be great.

This picture show's the black areas I'm talking about around the edges and the scoops

I'd try any polish on the area ... It should clean up if not to bad .... I've had to repaint several but they were BADLY oxidized practically white ...

I'd recommend gel coat specific products. You can use regular car polishes and whatnot, but really some marine stuff from meguiar's will handle it better and with less hassle. Keep it protected with some heavy duty UV protection and a heavy wax like #16 or #845.
