Question Spots on Leather Seats

I bought my 01 Stratus R/T Coupe with a few thousand miles on it. I noticed, though, that the previous owner must've smoked in the car a few times. There are little black dots on the left side of the drivers' side seat as well as the left side bolster of the passengers' seat. I've used leather cleaner and polish but nothing is removing them. Are the leather seats damaged from the ashes of the cigarettes or is there something I can do? There are also black dots on the drivers' side door panel near the window.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Sounds a little like burn marks. Can you feel the spots on the surface of the leather if you run your finger over them?

Thanks for the replies...

I can't feel them with my fingers...nor can I scratch them off. Is there possibly a way to re-dye those areas?

They're not real noticable to anyone else...just to myself...and that's a big deal. :scared

Sounds like hot ash singed the finish on the leather without actually burning any leather. I'm not sure if your leather is clear-coated, but probably is.

I would recommend contacting www.leatherique.com and see what they can do for you. Many Autopians speak highly of their products.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

Without seeing them have you tried a leather cleaner and using a brush?

It seems if they burned there would be indentations.

GOt any pics???

I haven't tried using a brush. They aren't indentations which is why I still have some hope of removing them.

There were similar black spots on the exterior of the car right outside the drivers' side window which I removed using a clay bar...I assume they were from the idiot's cigarette as he stuck it out the window.

I'll take some pictures tomorrow and post them.

Thanks!
