Should I bother buying Pinnacle Souveran?

Hi guys,

I only ask since I have the Z-range (and everything I need to do the car when it arrives in 3 weeks time) but saw that 2-for-$95 deal, and wondered if its worth getting it.

I know all the Klasse boys (and girls!) use carnauba toppers, but it seems the general consensus is not to bother with Zaino. How come? Will it not help the shine in just the same way as it does for Klasse users?

I don't have an answer, but

good question. I was thinking about getting some Souveran to try on top of the Z. Not that I'm unhappy with the way the Z looks, I'm just curious if it could add just a little bit more WOW factor (that, and I like getting new stuff in the mail to try, it's like Christmas!)

Zaino is a system that works all in its own. Most feel that if you layer on some carnauba then you may very well have problems layering some Z-2 or Z-5 over it.

You can add Carnuba over Z but it will have to be removed prior to adding more layers of Z for proper bonding.

Play with the Z a while check it out...examine it...when you get bored then try topping with some Souveran! THen post those results!!!

Main reason I won't put Souveran on Zaino is because you cannot layer more Z unless you wash it off with Dawn, but Dawn is harsh and I really don't feel like doing dawn wash every couple months. Also, feeding oils over Z defeats the whole purpose of Zaino system anyway. Personally I would just go with Blackfire if you prefer the carnauba look.

The stripping of the wax on the Zaino was my other issue...

Is Dawn the only thing that will do this?

In which case, does Dawn not remove the Zaino as well, or is Zaino tough enough to not be affected by it? (in which case, just out of interest - what DO you use to strip Zaino, if you wanted to??)

Thanks

Sal had said Dawn does not remove Zaino, and I've found it to be true, well at least it does not remove ALL the Zaino if you have significant number of coats on. I've used dawn to remove Souveran topper and it still beads water.

If I want to strip Zaino, I would go the abrasive route. Although I've never done it before, I believe PPCL will do the trick.

By the way, I believe you like Z6 right? I think most people do. If you put carnauba topper over Z, you will not get the maximum result from Z6 anymore. That's another compromise for using carnauba topper.

If you really want to put on "something" over Z badly, why not try Blackfire? I believe JPS said they seem to be compatible.

I'm not desperate to use a topper, it was just that with the special 2 for $95 deal going on over on that website (posted in another thread) I wondered if it was worth getting some.

I haven't even had a chance to try Zaino itself on the car yet, as I don't get it until 1st March. I might just get the Souveran anyway, as it seems like a good deal, and I can always give it a go on the parents' car...
