Basic polishing questions.

My car is a year old. There's some spider webbing, but nothing bad, you have to look at the surface at an extremely low angle, so you're line of sight is more parallel to the surface than perpendicular.

There's one spider web that's more obvious on the trunk lid of my car, which is a bother looking at.

Other than that, the surface of my car seems pretty new. What should I do in terms of polishing? I got a light blue metallic car. Is glazing enough? If I need to polish, what should I use? Menzerna's Final Polish 2?


Here's some more basic questions:

1. If I hand polish, how much do I press down on my applicator? Do I push down at all? Or is the lateral movement of my applicator enough?

2. Can I isolate polishing to one area of the car? Or if I polish one area, I need to polish all the areas for evenness?

yes you can just polish one area....id say firm pressure, you need to work at it rather than wipe it on

BMW645- I usually find that hand polishing takes a bit of pressure, so don't rely on the lateral motions and the product itself to do it all. Mike Phillips from Meguiar's makes it sound like you really gotta lean of Scratch-X, for instance.

The only problem with "evenness" will be that you might find the marring-free area looks so much better than the rest of the car that you'll *want* to do it all. But it's generally not some dramatic difference that everybody can see (at least not when the paint's in basically good shape).
