Same here, excpet I bought Zaino first. Then spent hundreds on all kinds of products and am now back to Zaino.
" Stick with what works for you!"
It took me a while to weed through the hype of products.

I did that.

I stopped pretty much cold turkey about a year ago, maybe two. I'll buy stuff from a member here if they need to sell something out of need. And I've picked up some towels and brushes locally on extreme clearance, and I bought from Meguiar's during the Katrina sale. In each case I gave most of the stuff away to friends.

Try this. When something new comes along, wait. Wait for it to be new, then wait for it to be common. Then if you wait a little bit longer, it will become passe, and there will be something else new. I've done this through several cycles, most notably UPP, Wolfgang, and now Werkstatt. There have been more, but I don't remember them.

Once you make it through two cycles you'll be pretty well immune. Trust me, the car will look great whatever you use, as long as you use your products and tools correctly.

Tom

I'm almost done with one cycle....

I'm to the point that I only get more of something that I use and replacing what I use up.

Anyone want to buy/trade for some Souvereign?

I absolutely agree with you. I can't get enough of this site. After 20+ years of being a detailing enthusiast, I take great pride & passion in growing into a full blown "Autopian". Back in the early 80's I started out with a tin of Turtle Wax... and then expanded to Rally Creme Wax, AA & a bottle of Windex....By the mid 80's I discovered the Meguiars products. My first love was Meg's # 26 Paste. I was hooked on detailing. 20 years later I find myself buying ENTIRE PRODUCT LINES!! ( thanks, Autopia ) I've spent about $2800.00 in the last 2 years building an arsenal of extrordinary magnitude!

I look back sometimes at all of the stuff that I have learned from this site. My cars have never looked better or have I had so much fun keeping them that way.

To this day I still look forward to reading about and seeing the details done by some of the masters (Anthony O, Scottwax, RickRack, Sean, Mike, etc).

As far as buying products...well you know thats never going to end. Heck, half the fun is trying new things.

Once again Tom...you so succinctly and eloquently summed it all up.

I always like trying new stuff but I will wait until the new "hotness" has arrived. I then buy some of the old soup dejour (usually on sale by this point) and try it out with a blank slate.

I'm also to the point where I'm not buying any new products until I finish up the ones I have. Once those products are gone though... watch out!

Heh, good point. But it is not really that I need it, but that I want to see if it is better/newer/etc. Plus, it is just cool to receive packages of new products in the mail.

But, on a second note, I have never had so much fun spending money.
