Paint Cleaner before or after Swirl Mark Remover?

Is it necessary or a waste of time to use a paint cleaner before or after using 3M's swirl mark remover? It seems to me that the swirl mark remover would also "clean" the paint making it unneccesary to use PPCL or P21S cleaner. I plan to follow the SMR with a IHG or Meguiar's #3 and then pure carnuba wax.
Thanks, Bill

You will not need any additional cleaning after using the SMR, so only use the paint cleanser if the SMR leaves hazing or micro-swirls. If you are applying the SMR by PC or if you have a light-metallic car, you probably will not have to use the paint cleanser.

Swirl Mark Remover . . .

The SMR removes everything (not clear coat) off of your paint. It has an obvious mild abrasive in the solvent, which removes surface buildup. You will commonly hear Autopians removing Klasse or Zano with SMR. It will take everything off of the paint.

So, you realistically do not need to use a paint cleaner, as the SMR will take care of that for you.

Don't forget to get some pics of the before, and the after. I will be honest, if you do it right, the results are amazing.

Best regards.
