Anyone ever had black leather marks on leather seat?

Friend has a newer Lexus SUV and the black leather from his belt rubbed the bottom part of the back cushion. He says he tried soap (not sure what kind) and water to get rid of it but it didnt work. Dealer wants a few hundered to re-dye the seat. Any suggestions?

While harsh, I have had great luck with some cheaper leather cleaner. It is an Eagle One product and I believe it is just called "Leather Cleaner." I cleaned up a car for sale that had years of smoke and other stains on it and the Eagle One stuff worked where others would not. One the leather on leather stains, a good amount of buffing was required. Also, the cleaner will dry the seats out so be sure to condition after using it.

Since my daily driver has tan leather seats, Z-9 has worked wonders for me.

Do a search for belts & leather-there are a few threads. There isn't a high success rate with anything. Dye transfer is tough.
