Question p21s over Gold class????

hi all...right i spent monday on my black mini.

the idea was to get all the old waxes off and start again..as due to my previous experimenting ...going inbetween autoglym and megs..i had ended up with as someone put it from here..a bit of a porridge on my car paint work.
i usually end up using over the counter stuffas i am an impatient git and cant wait 24hrs for mail order so this is what i did

1/ washed with a high concentrate of fairy liquid to get as much wax/polish off as poss.
used the two bucket method and my megs wash mitt (brand new...weird to use..cant really get any pressure with it...but better than a sponge i suppose)
2/ megs quik clayed the entire car..(never lets me down that stuff)
3/ washed again..2 bucket method..(fully washed out) mitt and gold class shampoo conditioner
4/megs step 2 polish all over (was unreliably informed my car doesnt have a clearcoat which is why i used it)
5/megs gold class liquid wax all over

the problem is she now looks great.......BUT I WANT AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

So as everyone has been gong on about P21s i am considering getting hold of some..being patient and then layering the car up with that.

anyway 2 questions
1/ can i put p21s on top of gold class or do i have to strip the car again.
2/can i get a deeper shine by layering up the gold class (got loads left you see) or does it just strip the previous layer?

I've layered Gold Class successfully in the past - definitely got a wetter look after the second coat. I've since used multiple coats of P21S and got a better glow, albeit with softer reflections. Also, P21S is sooooo much nicer to work with than Gold Class. So, if you want hard reflections keep going with the Gold Class. If you want a softer glow go with the P21S (don't see why it can't go over Gold Class). However, in the future, I'd do some more research and look for a better overall combo, such as applying P21S over Klasse AIO, or maybe even going down the Poorboys route and finishing with EXP.

By glow I mean ultra clean looking with a deep fuzzyness to the reflections - kinda warm looking if you get my drift. The opposite would be cold, hard, insane reflections with little depth apparent in the paint.

What condition is the paintwork, you seem to be putting in a lot of effort into the final stages. This is good if the paint is in excellent condition with very few defects (swirls etc). If the paint needs work attention then focus 90% of your effort here. This is where the real gloss or shine comes from

As Steven says the real look comes from the polishing and prep not the wax.

You could go straight over the Gold Class with P21s but this alone isnt going to improve things much.

Look at a good polish and glaze combo before you wax.

On Black I would look doing whatever you need deep polishing wise then at Meguiars #80, Clearkote VM or RMG, Poorboys EX and top with a good wax.

You will do much better with layering with P21S than with Gold Class, because GC is a cleaner wax, which will not layer effectively. P21S is a pure wax, and will layer perfectly as long as you do not introduce any cleaner products in between. You can still wash with a wax friendly car wash and/or use a wax enhancing spray and still layer with P21S.

The look of a layered P21S wax finish is absolutely astounding. I would wager that you would not go back to gold class after looking at a well built P21S finish.

But if you really want to use Gold Class, then I personally wouldn't put the p21s over it. The combo could still produce a shine, but IMO you won't get the full potential of the depth and reflective powers of the P21S pure wax.

Good luck though.

As far as I know P21S is only available mailorder. An alternative is if you live near a Harley Davidson dealer you could buy S100 which is apparently the same product

I bought the s100 and I have to agree, Gold Class isn't even in the running. Now, I polished real well, put on Klasse AIO, then a number of coats of s100. The truck looks wet all the time. It's beautiful. Thick, rich depth, Crystal clear reflection, and a gloss that I've not seen on anyone elses car in my area. I mean it really sticks out. Now, I'm toying with the idea of adding SG to the combo before winter gets here. I don't know. I just don't see how it could get better.
