Glare on Black 04 Durango

I have read some past posts on the Glare line of products, and I get a mixed reaction. Although most against, there are some for the use of this product. The reson for this post is to let you how I found the poduct if any members were curious. Please excuse the poor quality pictures. They were takin with a phone and it shows. I had a customer insist that I use the Glare products so I did. Here is what I did.

1. Clean wheels with Glare wheel cleaner.
2. Wash with Glare soap.
3. Use Glare polish.
4. Use Glare Tire shine.

I did what the sales rep told me with the polish. 1st work it in like a "Compound" (His words). Next apply it like a regular wax and microfiber it off.

Oops Still learning

Sorry I was trying to put this all in one post but I'm affaid it did not happen.

Anyways, It had a nice shine to it. Deep, but not very sharp. It made the normally sharpe edges of the truck look soft. The tire shine worked amazing I was really impressed and it lasted more than a week. Not a brite but it was still there. I went back to check on the results 8 days later. I used a PC with a white foam pad to apply the first layer and it went on smooth. I left the rear end of the truck out in the blazing sun while I was working to see if what the rep said was true about it working well in the sun. I was really easy to remove in the sun. The wheel cleaner was nothing special. The volume of the wheel cleaner is really bad. It only did the truck and it was gone. Also the polish did a great job on the swirls. It really worked well.

All in all it went on pretty easy. I was never fond of the product because of it's " As Seen on T.V " Claims about it lasting 5 years and it's small portions and high prices. Even if it did last long why would I use it? I like to change up my waxes and sealants often. also I did not really like the shine myself, I prefer a good wax for a deep gloss.

With the limitations of a phone camera, its difficult to draw any conclusions from the pics...which is even difficult to do with hi-rez pics.

The only observation I can make is that its very reflective, but extremely silvery/plastic looking. It doesn't look black. That's how old tech sealants use to look.

But it just might be the cameras limitations that's giving that impression.

You didn't actually state your impressions...how did you find it compared to others you've used?

Sorry, I am new. Your right about the silver sort of tint. In the direct sun it changed the black to more like a medium gray colour. At night it's pretty black though. The camera's lack of quality actually makes it look blacker than it is.

Compared to other products I have used it was O.K at best. Average, if you will. I am a huge Zymol guy and as far as appearance, it's not even close. (Just my opion). It does have the same sort of finish as a sealer rather than a wax. If you get a chance try the tire shine though. It was great if you like your tires really glossy.

The polish did a great job on the swirls though. There were quite a few in the paint. Another thing was it was messy in the cracks and on the trims. I was very careful, and it still was not good. When I finished the cracks and trim looked great but as the days went on it showed back up at bit in a few spots.

Thanks for taking the time to do a review.

Really! It really sounds like NuFinish. Very 80's polymer.

I don't think they'll be selling much to Autopians.

Which Zymol do you use? A few members here also swear by it.

I currrently have Glare on the hood of my TA. Its got good gloss and its very reflective. The reflections are a bit distorted, doesn't have a mirror like sharpness like Duragloss and many other synthetics. Its real claim to fame is its longevity-some claim up to a year. IMO this a good protective product for a basecoat for a daily driver then top it with your favorite carnauba or blended wax. Glare probably lookes better on curvy cars vs box shaped cars due to its soft optics.
