Washing my Car advice

Hi guys I have a question I have a 95 Honda accord that I got painted over just about 2 years ago. I remember when getting my car painted the guy who did the work told me to use a 100% cotton rag on the car while washing it. So that's what I used, I used the cotton rags at the car wash 1 dollar per rag but I still managed to get those very unattractive swirl marks all over the car, the hood the bumpers etc. So my question is how do I wash and dry my car without getting those scratches and what type of buff job should I get to remove them and what should I expect to pay of a quality job. I live in Boston ma just in case.

Cool

to Autopia t-1000v2.0!

You can get a great start by reading up in the how-to section. After you've read a bit you'll get the basics down and you'll come up with new questions, more specific to your individual needs that we can help with.

Enjoy.

PC.

There is a lot of stuff here and here is the ultimate method, tone it down to your requirements. Two buckets, chennile mit, good car was soap and a quality MF to dry would be a good start.

Were you washing with the cotton towel or drying?

Either way, I'd get rid of it and use a chenille, sheepskin, or microfiber mitt to wash the car with, and a quality microfiber waffle-weave drying towel to dry the car with. I prefer these:

And read the Autopia Guide to Detailing too.
