will megs 83 and wool pad take care of this?

I have 2.5 on the way, and but it wont be here by tom, so i need to make due with what my Megs supplier has ( pals automotive in Piscataway nj). I was thinking megs 83 and a wool pad. However i dont know which wool pad to go with. Which Edge 2000 wool pad would u suggest? because pals also carries full line of edge 2000 pads.

http://edgepads.com/E2kwool.htm

and here is a picture of the hood. basically the entire car is like this. It just got back from the body shop and the shop didnt bother to do even a half decent job color sanding and then compounding.

Pals also distributes for automagic. They also have alot of the mothers line too. So what pad and product combo should i pick up tom?

thanks

I suggest Yellow lightly dampened followed by the green with less pressure and dampened slightly more .

I might be inclined to bring it back to them and make THEM do it.

Sorry I don't have anything else to contribute, but that's just crap workmanship that you (or someone) paid them to do right. Right?

Cool

Man, that’s nasty.

It couldn’t hurt to talk to the shop. Maybe the regular guy was out that day and some goofball did it just to get it out the door. Maybe they’d be willing to send it to somebody who does know what he’s doing. I wouldn’t hold my breath but it’s worth asking.

You never know till you dive in but I doubt #83 will even come close. Just looking at it my first thought is Meguiar’s #3000 paper followed by #85 Diamond Cut with a wool pad then the #83 with a foam pad.

Start with a small section, 1’x1’ and see what works.

Cool

Did he already tell you that he's given up on the body shop or is he just asking for your opinion and an estimate? If he's already given up then that makes you the "guy who knows what he's doing".

If it were me I'd tell him upfront that I would probebly not be able to remove all the scratches but it would look much better. If he gives the go-ahead I'd mask off some 1'x1' squares and start experimenting.

Good Luck!

If that's what they did the first time, DON'T take it back there! Horrible workmanship.

well, i took my OWN advice and today took my car over to the body shop that's done, let's say "a good bit of work" on my car. There are a few spots that have been bugging me. The problem? The repairs are over 3 years old. Guess what? They said they'd fix it all to my satisfaction and were happy to see me and have a chance to make things right.

I guess it depends on the shop. There are some possible explanations for this crappy workmanship seen here, so it's worth at least asking the shop. IF it were your car. Since it's a client's, obviously you'll want to do the work
