Getting ready for first detail

Going to do my first detail, all by hand this is what i had in mind;

Wash
Clay
?
AIO
SG
P21s

Its a 99, dark blue with very mild swirls, hasn't been waxed for about 8 months. Question is should i add a fine polish where the ? is or after the clay go right to the AIO. Thanks for all the great info.

If you go right to the AIO after clay the swirls will prob still be there. AIO is not abrasive anough to remove light swirls. There alot of great light polishes that you can use. I like the Menzerna FP.

I use the Sonus SFX line of polishes. Great results so far, but my detailing arsenal is very small, so I don't have much to compare to. I would love to try some SSR from Poorboy, but I myself am a poorboy too.

99NorCalGT- Welcome to Autopia!

Yeah, you'd better use a polish before the AIO. Dark blue shows marring almost like black, and the Klasse twins seem to make it jump out at you.

If you're working by hand and using Klasse, I think I'd go with 3M PI-III MG (05937) or the new PI-3000 equivalent.

Thanks for the replies. Ordered some 3M PI-III MG (05937) earlier today. Since I'm appling by hand what kind of application pad should I use: foam, MF, terry.

i would use terry to provide some more *cut* for the deeper stuff, or mf primed with a squirt of QD for regular use.

Just a few things:

-consider layering the SG (up to three coats)

-let it cure before carnauba
