I didn't finish until 10:30 this evening

And I'm tired!

I couldn't start until 1 PM because my customer has a gated property and wouldn't be home from church and lunch until around 1. No way for me to get in if he isn't home (not like a gated community where you can follow someone else in, this is the entrance to his house).

He wanted his Land Cruiser washed because the person who was buying it would be picking it up that evening. He also wanted his wife's LX470 washed and his F-250 washed and the bed polished and waxed. He had replaced the bed a week ago because the other one was pretty messed up from being out at his deer lease. I figured that would take until around 5:30 PM. He then said if I wanted to work late, he wanted his Cayenne turbo polished and waxed. I had last done it in mid October (pic is in the Bus thread) and it did have some scuffing and spider swirls from a couple of dealer washes (he is going to tell them in the future not to wash it).

Since I know that rain is in the forecast for Tuesday through Thursday, I figured since I may end up with 3 days of little or no business, and it had rained enough on Friday and Saturday to scare off my regular wash customers, I jumped at the chance.

He had me work in the garage connected to his guest house (more like a guest apartment). I had never been in this garage, I'd always worked in the one connected to the main (11,000 square feet!) house. Anyway, this was the coolest garage I've ever seen! Wood paneling everywhere, 30' high cathedral ceilings. Each of the three bays was a good 30+ feet deep, stereo with 4 speakers mounted up on the back wall and even...get this...an ice machine!

I ended up 4 stepping the Cayenne so it took some serious time (SSR 2.5, #80, CK's new Red Machine Glaze and finished with #16) but it looked great even under the harsh halogen lighting. Not really bright enough to get quality pics though.

To top the day off, I was able to drive the 40 miles back home (all freeway) without taking my car off cruise and my order from Wendys had hot fresh fries!

All in all, a pretty good, if very long day!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I did take pics of the inside of the garage, probably post them midweek or so.

What highways do you normally migrate? I always hit up I20 and I30 every day about 30 miles each way since I go to school in Arlington, I always try to find a shiny black 626 but never do

I'm only on 30 when I go out to this guy's house (Hudson Oaks, about 4 miles west of Aledo). I normally do whatever he drives to work at his office and go out to his house about 5-6 times a year when he has a lot for me to do.

Otherwise, I take 30 out to Rockwall to visit my 18-month-old niece....well, guess to see my brother too...a couple times a month.

The vast majority of my business is right in and around Arlington.

Wow I'm tired just reading this. Sounds like a killer garage though to work in. Take a day off you've earned it

No day off. 3 washes and and wash and wax tomorrow....and since it will be 80 and sunny, I'm hitting the park to get in a good 10 laps on my inlines (around 13 miles). Got to get work and skating as much as the weather allows this time of year.

Scott.. you are an inspiration.. I don't know how you can do multiple vehicles in a day.. my limit is two (and only if the second one is one of mine! )

If you don't mind me asking.. what are the your average prices of a complete exterior and interior/exterior detail?

If you do not wish to answer, I understand completely.

Since two of them were just washes, it wasn't so bad. Besides, after doing this nearly 11 years full time now, it doesn't bother me. I was just lacking my normal energy after having a mild case of the flu this past week. Even today, I was still feeling the afteraffects (just not feeling as strong as usual). I only ended up getting in about 11 miles on my inlines late this afternoon.

Normally, I just go to it and feel fine afterwards.

You can find my basic prices (and CYA comments on additional charges) directly at this link:

Pat-I appreciate the compliment!
