Splatters on My Leather Seats

For the first time I used Lexol conditioner on my Ebony leather seats. I thought I did a good job but there are some "splatters" on the seats -- oily looking. The seats didn't look dirty and I did not use the cleaner before the conditioner.

How do I even out the color on the seats and get rid of the spots? Can you clean over the conditioner with Lexol cleaner? Do I need to recondition? I didn't ruin anything did I?

One more question -- I used Lexol vinylex on my dash. Its a little shiny for my taste although I like the shine on the plastic. I would like to use 303. Do I remove the Vinalyx first? If so how?

Thank you in advance for your responses to a newbie.

P.S. - My car is really starting to look nice thanks to the information on this group. So far 2 coats of AIO and 1 of KSG. At least one more coat of KSG will go on soon.

Yes, you need to remove the Vinylex before you apply 303. To remove the Vinylex get a spray bottle and put a small amount of Dawn and mix it with some warm water. Wash the dash down with that and it will remove the Vinylex. May want to do it twice to make sure you got it all, then apply the 303.

Welcome compulady,

If you haven't already found it yet, there is a great CL forum out at http://www.acura-cl.com

TL forum is http://www.acura-tl.com. I use the same name on both this and the CL and TL forums. Pay us a visit.

BTW, I love the Acura Satin Silver Metallic color.

Can you post a picture of the splatters or describe them some more? Do they look like a "wet" version of your current leather? Are you certain that they werent there before you conditioned? More info will help and probably get more replies. Pictures speak a thousand words.

Sorry I don't have a camera available. Simply put in some places it looks like drops in other places blotches. The spots and blotches are just shiner than the rest of the area. I can't imagine the cause being anything besides the Lexol. Lexol provides a shine so logic tells me it must have to do with the Lexol -- my lack of technique I'm sure. Perhaps I didn't wipe off the conditioner properly.

Is there a way to remove the Lexol and start over. Can I try using Lexol cleaner?

The conditioner is made to soak into the seats, so removing it wouldnt really be possible in my opinion. Maybe extra conditioner was absorbed in those areas and will eventually evaporate out, I dunno - it's really hard to guess without seeing it.

I personally would try the Lexol cleaner to see if it helps, but no guarantees.

did u wipe the seats down first with a damp MF

...to like get the seats ready...lubricated...how did u apply iy...foam..terry aplicators...how long did u let it dwell on there...and how did you buff it out....it happened to me...not with Lexol though...and it was that the seats werent damp so it absorbed the conditioner at different spots differently...if that makes sense/.... its fixable...like RH was saying...
