What's your favorite for aluminum?

After reading the thread about acid based cleaners and the thread JDookie started about chrome wheels I got curious about what everyones favorite protectant for aluminum is.

Same 2 questions raised by JDookie:

1. Whats your favorite polish and is for clear coated aluminum wheels?

2. What's your favorite protectant for aluminum wheels?

Thanks,
13

Flitz. Cleans, polishes, and protects in one step. Safe for all metals.

1)Mother's Metal Polish.

2)I don't usually protect aluminum, but I would say the Klasse twins if anything.

After trying a variety of metal polish (Wenol, Mother's Billet, etc), I settled on the new Meguiar's NXT Metal Polish, followed by a heavy coat of NXT Wax on both the polished and gray painted cast area of the wheels.

They have a deeper shine with the NXT metal polish than previous products.

I am considering Zoop Seal this winter when the Mach 1 goes to garage queen status.

Man those look GREAT!!!

Is Meguiar's NXT Metal Polish safe on clearcoated wheels?
If so, then I'll be picking up both those products to try on mine

Thanks for the pics,

Mothers polish.
I have never put a dedicated protectant on aluminum.

Simichrome is by far the best. Mothers billet works pretty good also.

If the wheels are clear coated I treat the wheels as other painted surfaces on the vehicle.

For non-coated aluminum and metals I like Zephyr pro perfection.

No..No..No.. DO NOT USE NXT metal polish on clearcoated wheels! It has an abrasive content and is made for polishing raw aluminum wheels. You can use NXT Tech Wax with no problem.

Hope that helps.

Totoland Mach: Thanks for the heads up! Check this out....earlier this evening I went to buy the Meguiars metal polish but I read on the label that it was NOT recommended for clearcoated wheels . I just got home and checked the latest on Autopia and found your post. Whew that was close.

I still think your wheels look awesome and if mine weren't clearcoated I'd be polishing away right now!!!

Thanks again,
13
