Toyo Guard Sealant Cleaner
Hi, I'm new to autopia. I have a question about the toyota toyo guard sealant cleaner that came with my mom's car. does anybody know if this stuff is even useful and what is it made of? and how come when i tried it once, when i wiped it off it left the paint oily and smeary?

Toyo is a tire company.
It's probably for the tires.
Life is just too short to drive a substandard vehicle...

Looks like Toyo Guard may be a line of products. There are Toyo Guard option packages on some cars that include paint sealants, I bet you'd see something about that on the window sticker.
Did a little looking around on Google, and it seems like the Toyo Guard package is just like any other "sealant" package offered by dealers -- a way to seperate you from your money. Healthy profit margin built in; I'm seeing $159 invoice and $619 MSRP for the package! Couple things indicate that the sealant has some Teflon in it. Seems to be limited to the Southeastern area. Some packages include glass etching.
One person reported that his salesman told him that all he has to do is rinse the car with water to wash it, and use the bottle of stuff to clean off stubborn dirt.
If you got a bottle of stuff with the car, I bet it's just some sort of quick detailer for maintaining the paint sealant that was applied by the distributor.
IMHO, you'd be better off using other products.
