Meguiars: difference between Polymer sealant and Medalion Premium car wax

just wanted to see what is really the difference between these two products. ive heard both last a long time like synthetic waxes. much longer than the good ol Gold CLass wax. but is that polymere sealant also a wax? because it seems to also "protect" like a wax. but im getting the idea its only used for protection and not shine?

so if i were to choose one of these two in terms of using it as a wax that gives good shine and durability, which is better?

Both products are polymers, whereas the Medallion doesn't have any cleaners. This means you will need to prep the paint with the preferred Medallion cleaner or some other surface-prep.

I have also heard the Medallion lasts longer, and has the newer technology that doesn't cloud German paints.

I would get the Medallion if you don't mind prepping. Of course, there is always Klasse or Zaino or Blackfire or Pinnacle...

There are trade-offs between ultimate gloss and ultimate longevity. I really like the Gold Class - it is a polymer-based product. It is NOT the best for longevity but is absolutely the best for gloss. (It is equally as shiny as Zaino and a lot less $$) And it certainly survives several washes. If you try it, be sure to let it dry at least an hour before buffing.

Both Medallion and Polymer #20 are pretty good, but #20 leaves some residue behind, but I think the shine is the same and it does have a light cleaner (similar to Swirl Remover). Either one is fine and both last longer than Gold Class or High Tech Yellow (which, in my opinion, has the best shine).

Example:

Wow! That's such a good reflection on the Porsche car guy! Shiny, but not too "hard" looking.

I've used both of these products quite a bit. And though they are certainly fine, they really don't give the shine that I like. I'm sure you already know this but one of the things that I do like about the Medallion product is that it doesn't attract as much dust as other products. I can certainly vouch for this claim. In my opinion and others have posted that the Gold Class doesn't last longer than a week. It seems like it is full of oils that give it that great shine that just wash away when it rains. It is a great product for someone who does not like to detail and wants a cleaner wax that is easy to rub on and off and gives good results.
