Peter: Not with that procedure no...For anything on the car, all jewelry comes off (except my necklace).
hadboosttroy: I haven't used it, but have heard good things. The Meguiar's plastic polish (for marine use) works great as well for soft plastic. You may wanna give PlastX from Meguiar's a shot as well for your rear window.

Have you tried Plastix for similiarly marred/oxidized (no deep imperfections)? I find this product works quite well.

blkZ28: No I haven't, but for swirled and defected lights, I believe this is one of the only ways to get em back.

Next can you work on a convertable top procedure??... I just had to replace the wifes Miata's

I've been looking for a new method to polish out the nicks/pits in my headlights and was wondering which method would be more effective.
What's your opinion, Sean?

Join Date: Jul 2003 Location: Southport, CT Posts: 6,667 | Lochi: I wouldn't go this abrasive on the dash cluster. I have used Meguiar's #10 and #17 with excellent success. You can get them from www.westmarine.com
Almighty: Absolutely! Which school are you a TKE at? Are you talking about the convertible rear window? or the actual top care?
GS400: After you wetsand, you need something rather abrasive to bring back the shine. Metal polish cuts down and levels out the surface leaving an amazing shine behind. Most plastic polishes only contain a VERY small amount of abrasives.
The problem with that kit is there is no wetsanding involved. When you wetsand, you level out the surface...That is doing nothing more than polishing away the oxidation. FWIW: I have used this method on headlights that are pretty pitted with great success. Next set of lights I do, I will take them out and give full documentation.
Hope this helps.
