So, My 'paint guy' hates the Klasse Twins

I've had my 92 Miata (42K miles) for about 6 months now, and finally got around to having some paint issues addressed. This after I think I have the finish just as 'perfect' as a 12 year old car can be.

So, my 'paint guy' tediously addresses each little area of concern, carefully cleaning, airbrushing where needed. Then he does his final chemical wipedown, and most of the new paint came right off! He sarcastically said it was due to my "Buju" (magic) finish that I had applied (AIO, SG x 3, P21S).

He'll be back tomorrow, I suggested he use my AIO (then his cleaner) to prep the surface...

We'll see what happens with the protecterant! First time I've ben told it was too good!

(BTW, this guy is quite good, I'm quite happy with his work on client cars.)

Jim

I had a similar situation back when I used to use Liquid glass. The body shop guys complained about how hard it was the remove.

As for the Klasse, shouldn't isopropyl alcohol get it right off? that was my sterategy when I wanted to removed the SG first before polishing out a scratch rather than just do it with the polish alone.

It’s my opinion - only opinion, not based on knowledge or fact - that AIO will leave “stuff” on the paint that will interfere with the airbrushed paint’s ability to adhere to the surface.

An alcohol or prepsol wipe would be a better bet.

Sometimes sealants can be a real bugger to get off. I had to use Medallion paint cleaner (by hand) 3 times on one section of the car before it got squeaky clean
