First, I just like to say that I came across this site yesterday on another forum, and in just a couple hours I found quite a bit of useful info right away...

Anywho, here's my question:

I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am GT- black. I'm getting ready to wash it throughly after a long winter and so far, cloudly and rainy spring.

I've noticed a couple scrapes and a mark on the fender and some others on the rear decklid- Does anyone have a good method to buffing them out?

I tried a search on the forum, but I have no idea what a lot of these products are and I bet many of them are not available at the local Murrays...

My best suggestion is to keep reading around, and you will learn how to remove them. I wont give you any advice yet, as i am not sure of your background or experience with different polishes or machines. Just keep reading, and you probably will have to order something and have it shipped at some point in time. Then you will fall into the autopian sickness and get to know the ups guy on a first name basis :

Try the "Learn" button at the top of the page. Then the "Search" in the choices just below that. There is an acronym dictionary in the top left portion of the home page.

The poeple here use quite a few specific terms to describle the problems they encounter and products used and it will take a lot more reading than just 4 days to become familiar with them all. Once you get the hang of it, your Searches for solutions to specific problems will become a lot more efficient.

Where at in the Detroit area are you? I live in Clinton Twp off of Hall Rd.

I just purchased a bunch of stuff. Been a Zaino user for a couple years. As of Friday I will have the following on my doorstep:

1. The PC...Porter Cable orbital polisher
2. The velcro backing plate and 2 of each type of pad.
3. The Menzerna products. You will see it called IP (for the Intensive Polish) and FG (for Finishing Glaze). Sometimes called the Menzerna twins.
4. The Klasse products. AIO (All-In-One) and SG (Sealant Glaze). Also called the Klasse twins.
5. P21S wax

I also have more Zaino polish and some ClearKote Vinilla Moose (VM). The nice thing here is the more you read the more you will learn how these all can work together.

Thanks guys- I did download the guide and it has really helped out a lot. I ended up getting some Mother's scratch polish and with a little rubbing took the marks and scratches off...Now I just have to learn to be patient enough to go through with waxing and waxing the car more frequently.

Oh, and SVT, I also live in Clinton Twp.- on 17 and Hayes...I've probably seen you around a few times!

Look for a black Cobra with chrome 18's and a cowl hood....if you don't see the car, you'll hear it!! License plate is WILDSVT.

Really? I don't know much about this product but I've been noticing the name around and looked it up at Autogeek. I'm curious about it, is seems like the precursor to things like Zaino, etc.

Or that's the impression I get.

But I don't hear many people talk about it here.
