Just Detailed 50th Aniv. Corvette

Hey all,

This car was in extremely bad shape and still isn't quite where I want it to be. I need a couple more sessions with it and will have that opportunity over the next couple of weeks.

A little history: the owner over the period of 4 months (since she bought it), used a car cover every day. Over the time of 4 months it had not been washed once. The car was filthy and she was still using a car cover everyday. In addition, as she took the cover off in the morning, she wiped the surface of the paint with the underside of the cover to get off dirt, water and sand.

As a result, the paint looked like someone rubbed woodchips everywhere :. I've never seen anything so bad in my life in terms of swirls and scratches... especially on a brand spankin new car.

Here are the pictures after 6 hours of work:

I used DACP, #34, P21S wash, Klasse AIO, Sonus spritz (NOT in this order ) . --BTW, I seemed to have some hazing or condensation of sorts approximately 30 minutes after applying AIO to the hood. Could this be the weather or did I apply too much?

Let me know what y'all think.

Thanks!

Not yet. I just put on some AIO to give the paint some more reflection.

I will have to attack it with DACP again next week. I'll apply SG at that time.

C5 paint is so soft - it is really tough to maintain, especially black. I rarely use a wash mitt more than once or twice, and use about 10 towels between washing and waxing/Zainoing. It's ashame that some people take such poor care of their cars.

Nice job!

50th Anniversary cars are that special dark red, w/fancy trim.

Oh, wow, brerpie -- that job (and that car) takes my breath away. Superb work! That woman does not deserve that car. Did you take it away from her?
