Klasse SG and micro scratches

I now have about 8 coats of Klasse SG.

I intended to have this number of coats to know if indeed Klasse SG layers and if it does... can it protect the paint surface from micro scratches?

ANSWER: YES, YES, YES!

I located some very minor scratches on my paint surface and tried applying Klasse AIO (which suppose to remove the Klasse SG) and it did. The micro scratches vanished... not believing what I saw, I tried it again to 10 or more minor scratches and it did remove the minor scratches.

I've removed a lot of surface imperfections just by removing the layer of whatever is on top. I'm with you guys with that "sacrificial layer" line. I think that it will help to an extent. You just need lots of em.

Heh heh, I've noticed that Jngrbrdman and I seem to (actually) agree on more topics than I sometimes think at first blush (my weird treatment of exterior trim notwithstanding)

Thank you for sharing this experience Jaim!

I'll have to remember this thread for future reference as people occasionally ask if this really happens. I know people have mentioned it in the Archives (somewhere) but it's good to have a real thread to point to.

Also thanks for reminding me of why I love LAYERS.

So what exactly has been proved here?

1. Thats the micro scratches are in the layers of SG? or

2. That AIO does what it claims to do and that is hide micro scratches?

Did I miss something?

If you wanted to prove point 1) above them you should strip the SG with something other than AIO.

JB in Irvine,

Based from my actual experience, I can conclude the following:

1. That Klasse SG "do layer" and can serve as a "sacrificial layer" against micro scratches.

2. That Klasse AIO is "not capable" of hiding micro scratches but rather highlight the micro scratches even more.

When I used the Klasse AIO on top of a scratched Klasse SG surface, the Klasse AIO removed the layer of Klasse SG whcih has the micro scratch thus, it is no longer present.

Very good point, I just tried now using a water dilluted isopropil alcohol (50/50) to remove Klasse SG and I did get the same result but the paint surface got dull .

I agree that SG layers, but I find your comments on AIO, do not match with the definition of the product:

http://www.autopia-carcare.com/klasalcarpol.html

AIO is designed to remove minor swirl marks and in fact contains the same acrylic sealant that is in SG.

So regardless of where the micro scratches are (clear coat or SG) it stands to reason that the AIO is going to either remove them or fill them (with the same acrylic sealant that is in SG)

The key point is, are the layers of SG stopping micro scratches from getting through to the clear coat? My guess is they are.

I just think a better test would be to strip a section of the SG away with a citrus degreaser to see.

From my experience Klasse AIO do not hide / remove micro swirlmarks at all.
