s100 vs. gold class

Anyone thinks Meguiar's gold class liquid wax produces better results than S100?

I've been using s100 for a while, and then I decided to try my old gold class. I applied s100 on a panel and gold class on adjacent panel, apply them with separate applicator and buff with separate mf towels. I noticed a subtle difference between both, and IMO the gold class side looks slightly better than s100.... The difference in slickness is obvious, gold class is much slicker and smoother than s100.

I will try to put another coat of wax on each panel and see the results...

I love the results from Gold Class Wax but it doesn't last long. It has a wet shine similar to Souveran but at a fraction of the cost.

S100 seems to have a harder shine vs a liquid shine.

It's a matter of preference. Use what makes you happy!

A few months ago after washing my truck I saw my can of Gold Class in the garage and decided it to use it since it had been used only once or twice. I put S100 on top and it looked pretty good on my dark red truck.

i used to use gold class but i say it only lasted me 2 weeks or less. i have to admit when i first used s100 i thought #26 yellow wax was slicker to me.

right now i got a coat of s100 on and i was wondering if i was a good idea to add a coat od #26 and then anothe coat of s100??

I love the way Gold Class looks... but I have to agree about the longevity thing. I would continue to use it if it lasted me at least a month.

I agree with your assessment of the looks of GC vs. S100 as well... I like the way GC looks better as well. A lot more liquid and reflective (somewhat similar to Zaino).

so the main reason people choose s100 over gold class is the durability? It is not a concern for me since my car is garaged most of the time. It is only driven once or twice a week and I usually put 1 coat of wax every week....

S100 is also favoured because it's a pure wax that can put over sealants and (arguably) layered. I've never used GC but S100 is also famously easy to use too.

GC has mild cleaners in it so that may partially be the reason why it can look better sometimes, but I'm just reaching here.

If Meg's GC Liquid Wax has mild cleansers in it, it didn't really remove any of the water spots on my SUV when I applied it to a panel as a test. I deliberately left the water spots on a side panel, applied the GC over it (there's 1x AIO and 2x SG underneath it). Waited about 45 min to dry then buffed off with Pakshak MF (great buffing towel BTW!!!!). Water spots were still there although a little better looking. A bit of depth was added as well but it was slightly noticeable compared to the Klasse SG alone.

I'm a little pleasantly surprised.

AIO doesn't always get rid of the appearance of waterspots. Sometimes the waterspot is etched into the clear and they still look like they are there. I've tried AIO on waterspots on some cars and it doesn't seem to dent them. PPCL took them right off though. Maybe it was a matter of just needing a little abrasive power... I don't know. All I know is that AIO has its limits. Waterspots seem to be one of the limits sometimes.

That's one reason. Another is that applying and buffing s100 is like a dream, plus i heard GC stains black trim pretty bad.

Actually, I did the AIO/SG several days before. Then it sprinkled a bit while driving the past couple of days (luckily it's now shining 90+ degree weather here). I did the Gold Class last night after doing a quick detail on it.

It definitely does have a little more shine to it than straight AIO/SGx2. A little more depth that is SLIGHTLY (and I emphasize this) more noticeable. It's definitely a lot more slick than SG, which doesn't feel like a wax at all.

Again, I should try other waxes like S100 or VM. But as for the VM, I'm afraid it'll just take off the SG. The S100 should be safe.
