2 days of detailing...Good idea?

Well i just came to a conclusion that i want to take my time for my 1st Autopia inspired detailing job. I would like to know if i can wash and clay the evening prior to applying the #9, #7, topped off with S100...?

Here is the plan of attack for the night before...

1. Bug and tar removal on areas that need it, bumper, side view mirrors (back), etc..
2. Dawn wash the car
3. CWB, blot with a RV towel
4. Clay magic with the QD spray included, wiped off with RV towels.

The following morning....

1. Wash (meg's gold class shampoo and cond.) and dry the car before starting....
2. Meg's #9 applied with Meg's foam applicator, wiped off with Micropak MF towels.
3. Meg's #7 (same application and removal as the #9)
4. Topped off with S100 (applied with the included applicator in the jar and removed with MF towels.

I DON'T have a garage so the car stays outside, thats why i'm thinking i should wash again in the morning before applying the products. Would i get a better looking (wetter) detail job if i apply the #7 twice..? Any comments or suggestion (for the products i have mentioned and methods i plan on doing) greatly appreciated. Thanks

Yes, just go over with a QD the next morning.

If you have swirls, use terry towels as per Scottwax's recommendations. Do a search for his method.

It's possible to complete all of these tasks in one day if you have shade to work in. One day would be my choice, but given the amount of work, it is understandable if you don't want to do it all at once. If you split it up into two, go ahead and wash the car again.

Hell, it took me a week to do my car! I did it in my garage and just took what little time I had spare to do it.

I would dawn wash the car before doing any bug & tar removal because some of the bugs/tar may come off in the wash and you don't want to rub any lose dirt while using bug & tar remover.

I don't think so because #7 has alot of oils in it and a second coat won't really layer, it will just push the oils around.

So if i use MF towels to remove the #9 and so on, it WON'T remove the swirls..? Thats the reason i bought the MF's, thinking they would work as well or better than the Royal Velvets i have....

I should have been more clear. Use terry towels in place of the foam ones since you want some cutting action to get rid of the swirls.

Oh ok...should i use terry towels to apply the #9 and #7..OR just the #9..? Im assuming i can remove/buff the products off with the Mf's i bought...

Si00- I'd use the terry with the #9 (only). The #7 doesn't really have any "cutting" action, so no advantage to applying it with the terry. Yep, buff everything off with the MF's.

Like Green Monster said, wash it BEFORE using the bug/tar remover.

Be careful with that CWB!

I'd worry about something getting on the car overnight, so I'd give it a quick wash. QDing would probably/maybe? be OK, but give it some thought.

I like to wash, remove tar, clay, wash and polish one day. Get up the next day and spend it layering a polymer Zaino. I like giving each coat an hour to dry when I have the time and it makes the 2nd day so much more fun, apply some sealent, go shoot the breeze, come back in an hour and remove and start it all over again.

I hate cramming everything into one day.
