First time with Poorboys EX Sealant . . .

I finished my spring time complete paint detail:

1. Polish with PC using a wool cutting pad and CMA's new advanced yellow cutting pad with Menzerna's Intensive polish. It was my first time with a wool cutting pad. Very easy to use. I was trying to remove a few pretty good scratches. On most of the car, I used the yellow advance cutting pad. Very nice. Menzerna intensive polish flashes very quikly. I would spray the pad and part of the panel I was polishing with Quick Shine QD. This helped keep the polish from drying to quickly. I really like the Menzerna Intensive.

2. Polish with ClearKote's Vanilla Moose Wax Hand Glaze using the PC and a CMA white advanced pad. VM is very easy to use and produces a nice Carnauba look.

3. Apply Poorboys EX Sealant by hand with a microfiber applicator. EX is very, very thick. It is a little bit difficult to apply thinly. (Next time I probably will apply this with the PC using a CMA finishing pad.) After I applied the EX I waited 40 min. to remove. Removing the EX is easy. About like removing Souveran wax.

The resut: I think EX is a great sealant that gives a Carnauba like appearance. It is not a glitzy sealant look but a deeper, wetter, liquid look. It looks great on black.

I will be topping with Souveran but I wanted to post a couple of pics with just the EX. It was pretty cloudy out when I took these two pics.

Cheers,
My Black 7 Series

I found that Poorboy`s EX is also outstanding on White. Topped mine with a couple layers of PPG.

Looks great! So how does EX compare to the Platinum UPP?

iceman,

So far I have only tested EX on black paint.

To me EX is more like a Carnauba in its appearance. UPP is more like 1/2 Klasse and 1/2 Carnauba if I try to describe it.

It seems that EX has a bit more depth, like a good carnauba and UPP is more refractive/reflective with depth.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,
My Black 7 Series

That is probably the best looking 7-series I've seen! Excellent as always.

Amp99,
Great review. EX is a very good sealant with a carnuaba-like final appearance with a slight hint of sealant glitz. I found from my experience with EX that even though a thin application is cost-effective the effortless removal (buffing) of EX does not change when applied thick. You might try using a sponge ( from de-coated terry applicator). It works very well in achieving a thin coat.
AMP99, I have an experiement for you since you stated that you are going to top with Souveran. Try this - mix 1/2 teaspoon of Souveran and 1/2 teaspoon of P21S/S100 and apply. Wipe off wet with MF. I think you will be amazed at the appearance.

Thanks Guys!

blkZ28Conv,

That sounds like a cool experiment!

How do you suggest that I mix the Souveran & P21S paste wax together?

Leave it up to a Mad Scientist like you to come up with that mixture!

Cheers,
