Looking for a black BMW to detail for Bimmerfest 2003

Hi everyone,

As most of you know, I work for Meguiar’s and I post here from time to time. Perhaps someone here can help me, or point me to the right person, someone who would like a free exterior detail.

I'm looking for a black BMW with a finish in bad condition for my booth.

I want to buff it out for demonstration purposes for this year’s Bimmerfest.

So far… I’m having trouble finding a black BMW with a finish in bad condition, an inspirational testimony to BMW’s and BMW owners.

What I would like to do is buff-out only one half for the event, then do the other half the following weekend. For this reason, it would be best if the owner is close to Irvine and is already planning to attend the event.

The Bimmerfest is in Santa Barbara.

Any black BMW with a neglected finish, oxidation, swirls, and scratches is a good candidate.

An older, single-stage finish works well for this kind of demo but I will consider clearcoats too.

If you think you have a good candidate, you can send me an e-mail, or call me at our toll free number.

Note: Cars missing paint, missing clear coat, or with lots of rock chips tend not to make good demo cars.

I will include with the detail a generous Gift box full of Meguiar’s products.

Thanks,

Mike Phillips

p.s.

I have detailed hundreds of mostly special interest cars, usually for the intended purpose of show or display.

Most of these cars have always been one-step away from having to be re-painted in order to restore their appearance value.

(No one ever brings me anything nice)

I promise, I won't hurt your baby.

I have a black BMW for the Bimmerfest!

Hi all,

Thanks to everyone that sent me an e-mail or called to offer their car as a candidate.

There were many excellent cars offered, most of which could use a thorough cleaning and polishing.

The car that was chosen is a black 1991 (1990 build) e34 M5 with a clear coat finish.

This car fit all of the criteria,

It belongs to a local, (Irvine, CA) BMW enthusiast who is also the moderator for a BMW website

http://bmwe34m5.com

This finish has multiple isolated scratches, buffer swirl and cobweb-effect and the overall finish is dull and hazy. It could use a thorough cleaning, polishing, and waxing to restore its original showroom shine.

The car will be in the Meguiar’s booth for you to see before and after as well as the products I used to detail the car.

See you at the Bimmerfest!

Thanks, again to all who volunteered their car…

Kind Regards,

Mike Phillips
