zymöl, at what point?

I used some Meguiar's Gold clear coat along with their #7 polish on my 2002 VW New Beetle today and it looks pretty good. I did everything by hand, so it isn't perfect, but I am happy with with it. When spring comes I would like to get a PC RO to do a better job on both my bug and my 1995 BMW 740iL.

At what point does it pay off to invest in zymöl's Concours at $149.99 for one container? Will the Concours keep the nice shine a lot longer then the Meguiar's Gold Clear Coat which is only $10 for one container? What exactly makes the zymöl worth $140 more then the Meguiar?

On the note of zymöl, I see that the Vintage has free refils for life. At $1402.50, it should. But the Atlantique, at $822.80, does not have refills. Why in the world would someone spend the money for Atlantique when they could have paided for the Vintage after buying the second container of Atlantique?

Sam,
Go to a Harley dealer and pick up a jar of S100 Carnauba paste wax for $15. I think you will be pleasently surprised at how much better it is over the Meguiar's. I also find it superior to Zymol. It's the only wax i use now. If you can find it, also get the S100 Shine Enhancing Paint Cleanser (a polish) before applying the wax. The results are fabulous.

IMO, it doesn't. For much less money I have had great success with Pinnacle Souveran. There's a sale going at a few places right now. $39.95. Spend a few minutes reading up on Souveran - most people really like it.

I find that it applies extremely easily, and leaves a great shine. I have used GC as well, and while it works pretty well, it does not compare to Souveran.

Well, you could start an arguement about virtues of zymol so you can do a search to see the arguements.

I've personally have used the zymol concours, destiny and carbon on my cars and in my opinion they are on par in quality and durability as meguiars #26 wax. I wasted my money buying those waxes, if you want to try them out, I'll sell you some slightly used destiny about 7oz but you'd be better off with the S100 or the P21S wax. I use zaino now and I'm happy with the results.

hey sam, nice name!

I ALMOST learned the hard way. Money does not ALWAYS mean the quality of the product in auto detailing.

I search for the cheapest stuff I can find, and put them up against 30 $ stuff to see the differance. Gets pretty interesting.

I just reviewed Zymol Vintage in another thread. Zymol is good stuff if you don't plan on using it on a daily driver. Its not worth the price though. From what I saw of Zymol I would say that P21S looks just as good and lasts longer. So basicly, at no point (in my mind) does it become worth it to pay that kind of price.

I've used Zymol HD-Cleanse and Zymol Carbon Wax for about three years now, and I love them.

Everyone says thay zymol doesn't last long, but one coat takes me through all of winter, and the shine is truely amazing.

I don't know anything about the above $100 waxes, but the carbon works great for me.

Just my $0.02.
