Glaze over existing sealant

Has anyone ever applied a glaze over their existing sealant (Blackfire or Zaino)? I know some here practice applying glaze prior to sealant application and topping directly with Blackfire or Zaino. Any problems ( ? solvents) or benefits to over-laying of cured sealant with a glaze? Just looking to experiment in order to beat the ennui in which the Blackfire has caused.

Any updates to the revised BF longevity? I am really keen to try some this winter.

According to 4DSC, $7 removed #20, but then #7 seems to act partly like a polish, and partly like a glaze.

Why has BF created ennui for you? Because it's too easy to use?

Even though these glazes are touted as non-abrasive or "pure-polishes", I've heard they still contain a small amount of abrasive or cleaning materials...and IMO would degrade or remove whatever product it overlays. Of course, I'm just theorizing right now..... quite different from what does and doesn't work in practice.

The boredom is created by the persistence of the high gloss, wetness, lack of dust collection and hazing. Everytime I go to add another coat I look at the finish and state "what the heck for?". Am I completely satisfied? Yes and no. The BF finish is fantastic but I do not think there is ever complete satisfaction. What is the next level? Is it obtainable? Does it really exist?

I figured the responses would be just as you stated Tony. The possible presence of abrasives and/or solvents in glazes. I was just reaching for someone out there that may have found/used a glaze that was a "pure" glaze ( if that exist).

The longevity of the Blackfire 2 on one of the daily driver (LS400) is doing great. Recently I have just been washing weekly and using the BF QD. Sometimes midweek if it is still relatively clean, I will Cali dust and wipe it down with Poorboy's Spray & Wipe. I am amazed at the shine and gloss retention so far. Then again we have not yet had any nasty weather. Tomorrow may be the day. They are calling for an ice storm and the city is already talking about using a brime solution to treat the roadways.:scared . This is an necessary evil. Have you ever seen a Southerner drive in snow or icy roads

During the summer I tried using a glaze over Autoglyms Super Resin. If there was a difference, I could not detect it, compared to glaze+wax (no Autoglym).

Dont know if this would be different with Zaino or BF

Tried it to, posted a thread on here a while ago

Megs no 9 with autoglym on top topped with p21s

Looked exactly the same as Megs no 9, super resin and a coat of no 7 and then p21s

and out of intrest also both panels looked the same as meguirs hand polish and p21s topper.

You might consider giving Meg's #3 a try based on CMA's recommendation to use it before the BF polish. I haven't tried it yet, although it's on my "give-it-a-shot" list once the weather turns warm again.

I take it you're still having no problems with compatibility between Z and the new revised BF, correct?

No compatibility problems at all. The car actually looks fantastic. I highly recommend after surface prep ( wash,clay, SMR,etc) to apply Zaino (~10-15 coats) which will augment the clearcoat glossiness and then follow with Blackfire Protectant to add back the richness, depth and basecolor coat emphasis. With Blackfire as the top protectant one can always top with a good carnuaba for added wetness and depth.

That I couldn't tell you . . . CMA recommends it as part of the surface prep: Meg #3, then BF polish, then BF sealant. It may not be at all suitable for a "topper" glaze (any mild abrasives or solvents would wreak havoc with your previous layers), but I thought I'd toss it out there as something to at least consider. If you do give it a try, please share results.
