Well...this doesn't happen often but I finished my IP (menzerna) and 106FF polishers...

There is a 1998 black BMW that looks like it hasn't been washed in ages. Loads of swirls and stains. This is going to be a tough job...The only product I have left is RMG and Wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant.

I have all the pads and colors and orbitor....since I need to re-order, is there anything newer and better besides IP and 106FF. This combo worked great for me over the years.

I used to use IP on orange and 106FF on white...then UPP on blue and then LSP

    Thanks for any advice,

A good option would be HD Uno on orange and HD polish on white.

If you choose not to go with HD you could go with Meguiars...m105 and m205 will work very well with the pads you have.

I bet you $19 it is jet black

I'd also suggest HD UNO and HD POLISH - they do very well on BMW paint.

Auto Polish Product for Car Paint, Plastic & Glass - HD Uno | 3DProducts

3D Car Care; Car Wash, Car Wax, Auto Detailing supplies, Car Polishers, Car Buffers & accessories store

and to top it off give POXY a try as well. Polymer Sealant Car Wax & Car Paint Protectant - HD POXY | 3D Products

If you have any questions about the products, feel free to ask.

    Thanks Guys!
I don't know if it's jet black...it's not my car and I only saw it for a few minutes...with all the dirt on it, it looked brown

    Does the HD polishers dust?

Thanks Thomas for the links...makes ordering a lot easier!

whoops..just read that it doesn't dust

Can I use my existing Lake country orange/white pads?

Will it bond well with Wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant (after applying HD Advanced Polish).

    Thanks

Yes, your orange and white pads will work fine.

If Wolfgang is your sealant choice it will work fine as well.

Julius_911- You really do need to figure out which paint it is. The Jet Black is notoriously soft, but the other BMW paints of that era can be incredibly *hard*. The Byzanz (?sp?) metallic on my '98 M3 was the hardest b/c paint I've ever worked on, waaay beyond Audis/etc., and even M105 was hard-pressed to correct it.

If it's the hard stuff, you'd better get some M105 or M101 and some MF cutting pads. I myself ended up wetsanding and using the rotary with rocks-in-a-bottle to do the hard work, before switching to M105 on a cutting pad and finally milder combos.

First not that I want to with Accumulator, but unforunately, I have done more jet black than I care to remember. Use what ever you like or take the recommendation of whom ever you trust, but I just want to make sure that you know that UNO cuts very well.

Get the black wool pad that is sold on the 3D site 3D Car Care; Car Wash, Car Wax, Auto Detailing supplies, Car Polishers, Car Buffers & accessories store

Along with HD UNO it will level the paint to perfection. Follow up with HD POLISH. This car was done with UNO only with wool, orange pad and black pad. Topped with HD POXY

Hard paint + m105 + surbuf pads + GG6 on speed 6 = Swirl annihilator. I removed some serious water etching and hazing from a BLK 08 metallic BMW.

    wow. Simply wow!

My friend also has a convertible..looks like the same car, but his might have a few more marks.

Okay so, If I go with UNO, then I do wool, orange and then black as suggested and if I use HD Advanced Polish do I go white???
    or
use Uno on wool and orange and do HD polish on black?

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. It was been very informative.

hey - Yes, use UNO wool, UNO orange and HD POLISH on black foam.

The good thing is that today you can do things with a da machine that years ago you could only do with a rotary.
