    Hey all,

I have a dark blue 2010 Matrix. Its a daily driver and I usually just go to the touchless wash to clean.

One day I see some kid has mashed his greasy hand into the passenger side door leaving a clear handprint. I take it to the drive through wash and it doesn't come out.

I finally get around to doing a proper wash (I used Meguiar's Gold Class and a sheepskin mitt) but that doesn't do anything either.

Its been on there a while now and maybe baked in or something.

Is there anything I can do? Clay bar? Polish?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks

May require a hydrocarbon solvent to remove, if it has not migrated into the clear.

Use some plain old lighter fluid (naptha) using a towel wetted with it, get the area damp with the fluid, keep it wet with it for a couple of minutes, wipe off, if gone, wash with your carwash soap.

Naptha will not damage your paint.

Another safe solvent for modern clearcoats would be good old mineral spirits, use the same way.

If the concern is still there, a more agressive polishing method may be needed.
