new to the world of detailing

Hey everyone...I have just recently caugh the bug to learn about detailing. I have never been a dummy whos lazy and takes there car to golden touch or any of them machine wash places due to the damage it can do. Over the last month before i found this forum i walked into advanced auto parts looking to stock up on my car care supplies and i ran into Griots Garage products. I saw the price on the stuff which was high compaired to turtle wax which i was using. So before i decided to buy the stuff i went home and researched the stuff and alot of people liked it...so i purchased just about all their product from wash to tire care. I did this because i was thinking it was best to stay with one company and not mix and match. I even picked up a RO 6 inch. Im mabe 300 dollar in but i didnt care. My goals are to get the best stuff to clean my own cars and mabe friends. Also i just want to learn to do a pro like job if im going to detail. I feel that if your going to detail do it right no matter the time it takes. I would like to ask what products are best but i know its like asking if nike is better than adidas. By the way i have never used a polisher at all in my life so ill be getting some old hoods to pratice or use one of my old jettas for learning..

The polisher will be very easy to use, and you will love it.

I agree with RZJZA8o about trying different brands. Every brand of car care products has it's gems and it's duds and alot of it has to do with your own personal preference. There will be high dollar products that are just garbage, as well as bargain priced stuff that will amaze you. You will learn to like some products and those will be your go-to products, and some others you will want to try other brands. Whatever you do, have fun and ask lots of questions if you need to. Welcome to the OCD ward!!! Which polisher did you purchase?? If it is a Groits, you're good to go. If it is one of the inexpensive units that they sell at Advance just be aware it really can't do any serious polishing--it's just not powerful enough to do anything other than spread wax.

I got the groits 6 inch...which i will be trying to find a 3.5 backing plate fore...
i have the groit fine hand polish,speed shine,clay bar,best in show,one step sealant,long lasting tire dressing(which i dont really like),rubber cleaner,wheel cleaner,paint prep,spray on wax,machine wax 3, orange and red foam pads,Interior Cleaner,window cleaner,window polish, and micro fiber cleaner....im going to be looking to get some new tire dressing and also some more pads from lake country

Keep this product in mind. A really great tire dressing. Dries to touch, long lasting and looks nice and dark.

ok thanks....that looks good!!!!.... are groits 1 and 2 machine polishes compound?

You'll need the 5in. backing plate that handles 5.5 in pads.
