Problems with Liquid Souveran application

I have been using Zaino for a while, but I thought I'd give the new Liquid Souveran a try for that "wet" look. I washed the car with a weak solution of dawn and it didnt seem to phase the zaino at all (I only had a little dawn left) then I used my porter cable to buff out some scratches on the hood and it wouldn't even penetrate the zaino, it only hazed it a little. So yesterday I bought a big bottle of dawn and had to wash the car 4 times with about 1/3 a cup of dawn in 2 gallons of water and that seemed to get the Zaino off, but I'm thinking it might not all be gone...

Anyways to get to the point, after lots of dawn I dried the car off and polished the hood. Then I applied one coat of Liquid Souveran on the hood with my porter cable at speed 1. I let it dry to a haze like normal then tried buffing it off but it didn't want to come off! (part of the hood was in the sun where the sun was peeking into the garage, but even the area that was in the shade while drying wouldn't buff off). So I got fed up and left it overnight. This morning I washed the hood with dawn to get the Souveran off and dried it. Then I applied one coat of Liquid Souveran on half of the hood by hand. This time I only let it sit for about 30 seconds before I buffed it off. It was still creamy when I buffed it off. I thought that was weird for a wax, but I figured maybe Liquid Souveran is not supposed to dry before you buff it off. Lastly I applied a second coat to the same half of the hood and buffed it off the same way. Then I pulled the car out of the garage into the sunlight and I literally could tell NO difference between the unwaxed half of the hood and the half with Liquid Souveran. This is pretty disappointing considering its a $25 wax that I had to mail order.

Did I do something wrong in my application? I felt it went on alot better and smoother by hand than with the porter cable. The only thing I can think of is that maybe I didn't get all of the Zaino off - but shouldnt the Liquid Souveran give a more wet and deeper look than the Zaino?

I only used the LS once then traded it here for something else. I too was unimpressed and found it difficult to remove. I think (maybe brdman will see this and confirm) you are supposed to wipe it on and just wipe it off, the same way P21s works. When I did that, it came off very easy but streaked real bad. I had to QD to remove the streaks. I agree there are many better products out there for less money than LS.

If the surface is not clean, problems with product distribution will occur. I really have no clue what the LS is doing for your car. Any souveran product should be a good one. I bet it shows off paint well. Maybe you're not looking at the car right to tell the difference from one product to the next?

Please tell us what product was used to polish the paint before you appplied the liquid wax? Did you apply a glaze after the polish?

Well when I did my truck I clayed, applied a coat of P21s Paintwork Cleanser then the LS. It really didn't look any better than the Megs #26 that cost half as much and will last twice as long.

I checked CMA first for PC application instructions before using it. I also had a coat of Platinum on the car first, so that could have affected the difficulty of buffing it off. Personaly I didn't have a problem buffing it off. It worked pretty well for me. I did notice a little hazing, but a little QD took care of that. There was an immediate increase in gloss but the reflection was a bit blurry. I'm going to apply it to my Accord next week and see if the results vary. I'd say that its an amazing 'show wax' but I don't know if I'd use it if I had PPG or regular Souveran as an option. It sure does smell good though.

Kinda like a vanilla milkshake. Yummy!
