Zaino hazing after polishing?

Hey guys. I have been trying to use Zaino Z2 as a sealant after I polish. I polish with Menzerna SIP. Now, when I put the Zaino on, it is just hazing up. Does anyone know why, or how to cure this? I want to polish/seal/wax but right now all I can do is polish/wax. If it means anything I have tried applying it via a PC, and by hand.

Re: Zaino hazing after polishing?

sounds like you may be using too much z2. You might want to come behind the SIP with a milder polish also to restore some color. Ive never used menzerna but ive heard it can dull the paint a bit.

Re: Zaino hazing after polishing?

Are you doing a wash or a IPA wipedown after the menzerna polishing? Zaino needs a clean surface free of polishing oils to bond properly.

What pad are you using with the menz SIP.
As bryan-gmblack said. are you doing a wash or IPA wipedown after you polish.
To give a better understanding of how the paint looks after polishing..
You might need to follow up with menz super finish nano 106fa or menz Final Polish 85 with white and gray pads

Re: Zaino hazing after polishing?

I have been using SIP on the orange pad about speed 5. Then I wipe down with IPA. Then I follow it with Menzerna final polish II on the white pad, around speed 4. Then I wipe it with IPA.

This may not answer the hazing part but I would use FPII on the white pad at speed 6 to make sure you are breaking down the abrasives completely.

Re: Zaino hazing after polishing?

I've applied Zaino after FP2 and if you properly wipe it down it shouldn't be an issue. I suspect that you are applying the Zaino too thick. You really should just barely be able to see it going on. If you can see it go back over it to lift off the excess and continue accross the panel. The other thing about Zaino streaks is that after a day or so in most cases they just disappear.

Re: Zaino hazing after polishing?

Are you sure the haze isn't from Menzerna and not being completely broken down? Ive seen Menzerna leave a haze when its not worked long enough. Menzerna with a PC can take some time to break it all down. My guess is this haze is a product of Menzerna and not Zaino

Re: Zaino hazing after polishing?

Sounds to me like you need to do a Dawn wash before applying the Zaino. Is it also hard tpo remove? Zaino likes/needs a virgin surface to work/bond properly.

I am pretty sure I am breaking it down enough. I am doing 4 passes slowly the horizontal way, and 4 slowly the vertical way.

Also, someone mentioned to me that I should not be applying the FPII on a white pad, but maybe a blue or black pad. What do you guys think of this?

Re: Zaino hazing after polishing?

It could be the humidity effecting the Zaino. In my area, Zaino hazes up and streaks because of the high humidity. No matter how thin I apply it.

This may or may not be what's happening in your case.. Just thought I would throw this out there.

Re: Zaino hazing after polishing?

Yeah, I had the same problem when I first applied Zaino, I had alot of haze.

I asked here at autopia and it turned out I did'nt do an IPA (Isopropyl ALcohol) wipedown to remove any polishing oils on the paint.

After I did the IPA wipedown, and re-applied the Zaino, the paint was glossy and reflective without the Haze.
