recommendations on scratchX usage

I've looked around a bit on scratch repair, and seems scratchX may be able to fix these following scratches.

But I have a quick question, because there isn't much information I can locate on how to properly use scratchX by hand. I know you use a foam applicator pad for about 3-4 coats.

But unsure of what people mean by apply w/ 'passion' Also is it recommended I use a clay bar on top of the areas I plan on fixing? And last question, what do you guys recommend to applying after I apply scratchX, am I able to just top off with a sealant or would I have to do glaze/sealant/wax etc?

The car is a new VW Jetta, normal black, so if anyone has recommendation I am open to hearing them out thank you!

Re: recommendations on scratchX usage

I'd clay first. "use passion" usually is taken to apply aggressively. If applying by hand, see how well it is performing on the scratches, and if need be, you might require a more aggressive polish. You should get a dozen suggestions on what to finish with, and any one of them will be good. Take your pick.

Re: recommendations on scratchX usage

Rub moderately hard and go across the scratch, or in both directions. And keep rubbing, it takes time/multiple applications. I took out some pretty good scratches with Scratch-X, and nicely diminished a really bad one. But it took a while.

You can go right to wax/sealant. Scratch-X by hand doesn't cause scratches itself. But you could glaze if you want, it would help hide whatever you cant get out. But you don't have to AFAIK.

Re: recommendations on scratchX usage

I used scratch x today on a buds badly swirled dakota with my pc & orange lc pad.
The swirl x did hardly squat & had to go to megs uc. It hardly touched swirls.

I used scratch x 1st & it didn,t do squat. The megs uc was used after & it really took out the swirls. I allways get a perfectly prepped surface after using the uc & go right to kaio.

Re: recommendations on scratchX usage

So I plan on trying ScratchX w/ no clay, but will top off with Klasse AIO than Klasse High Gloss sealant, what do you guys think? All by hand, good thing it's only a small section!
