Clear Bra Question

I recently bought an 08 Zo6 with the clear bra installed. Don't know if this is a dumb question, but can the actual bra be waxed? If not, is just washing the part of the car with the bra good enough?

The bra is peeling in a couple places like the side view mirrors. What's the best way to remove it?

Also, the car came with a Wolf Car Cover, either Noah or Evolution. Can these be thrown in the washing machine (if it will fit)? If not, what's the best way to wash them? (I can't post in the car cover forum for some reason)

TIA!

Re: Clear Bra Question

Yes it can be waxed. No problems.

To remove the peeling areas use a hair dryer to heat it up and slowly peel it. Or if you are in a hot climate just let it sit in the sun for a while and peel it off.

Re: Clear Bra Question

Also keep wax away from the edges or wax over-away from the bra, not into it. You don't want a wax line.

Re: Clear Bra Question

Just put tape over the line when waxing if you want to err on the cautious side.

I must advise to keep the bra waxed. All PPF is absorbant...and they more wax you keep on it, IMO, the film will age better as it won't absorb that *much* Especially in winter weather....

If it's not too big it *might* fit in an agitator-less machine (e.g. a front-loader), try stuffing it in there and see if it appears to be a good idea or not (I bet it'll be pretty obvious).

If you have an conventional/agitator style washer I doubt it'd be a good idea.

Even with my front-loader, I take covers to the local laundermat and use the biggest machine they have. It *still* takes multiple rinses (each time I take cover out, unfold/untwist it..big wet hassle..) to get everything clean and fully rinsed out.

Yeah, the ads say you can just launder them, but you know how ad-copy hyperbole goes

I also dry them in the big dryer, on the lowest heat setting. Even the synthetic materials seem to shrink a little bit, but the idea of putting the wet cover on the car to dry doesn't appeal to me and I don't *really* trust the "just let it dry, it won't mildew.." advice.

Oh, and Welcome to Autopia!

Re: Clear Bra Question

Agre with the above - keep it waxed.

Also, if you remove it, remove it carefully and make certain it doesn't have too much tack to it - when mine was removed it took a piece (albiet a small one) of the topcoat off with it!
