A Useful Detailing Association: Possible?

As it stands right now, I'm not too sure that a useful detailing association exists. There are a lot of of attempts that failed. There is a little LED bulb in my head going off to start researching what would make an association successful instead of making it a cash cow...and perhaps trying to make it happen.

Please post here what you believe a true detailing association should do for the members, what you don't want it to do, and "that thing" which would make you want to join it.

Lets say that the yearly membership fee would be $40.

Good luck convincing so many skeptics. Even if you make it free your membership will be limited. The industry needs this, although I don't think most detailers are ready for an organization.
